Gift guides are about to launch on Friday and I love creating guides to help you find the perfect gift for the loved ones on your list during the holiday season. But, one thing I notice year after year is that many of you use my guides as a way to build your own holiday wish list. I often get questions that ask 'What should I ask for.' I always say that if you don't have a running wish list, that is a great thing. It means you want for nothing and it's a lucky way to live! It's a great reminder that things aren't what is important in life.
But, I'm someone with a wish list because my job is DANGEROUS, ha! So, I thought I would share these earrings with you all because they are exactly the type of thing I would recommend to either gift or add to your own wish list.
I actually can't believe I purchased something by David Yurman. I used to be the brand's biggest fan in the early 2000s and into college/early post-grad. The only reason I really stopped wearing my cuffs and all of that is because I'm, admittedly, more of a yellow-gold gal. I find it to look better with my skin in most instances. I like the warmer tone. What is really annoying about preferring gold to silver is that it is much more costly.
I was most recently drawn to DY because of the campaign they did with Sofia Richie. I was heavily influenced and immediately added a 'sculpted' cable piece to my wish list. I cringe a little when I tell you this because I am somewhat anti-designer fine jewelry as the markup is massive and I know I could support my local jeweler and get something even more substantial for less. But, the heart wants what it wants sometimes.
My mom and I were at the mall a few weeks ago and I tried on the yellow gold hoops I had been eyeing. While they were beautiful, the scale was not what I was looking for. They were much smaller than I was hoping for. The next size up was more than I wanted to spend and still, they were a bit small in scale for what I had in mind. I also tried on the gold bracelet and loved it. I'm not in the market for a bracelet, I've been focusing on necklaces and earrings lately but I am keeping that bracelet tucked away in the back of my mind.
So, enter in these silver earrings. They were the exact scale I was looking for and at under $350, a much better price than the yellow gold, that's for sure! I loved them and thought about it for a few days because I was unsure about silver. I do have a few silver pieces and like to mix gold and silver but I didn't know if I'd wear them much. I saw my tote sitting in my office chair with a scarf sticking out and I laughed to myself. I have so many gray-toned things that pair so well with silver. I often need something with cooler tones and don't have much in the way of jewelry. I snapped this photo because it was then I ordered the Earrings!
I think this photo shows how much more substantial these are versus the gold hoops above!
I've had the Earrings for a few weeks now and I love them and am fully putting my stamp of approval on them. They're great for a luxurious gift under $350.... or if you just want to treat yourself! They are substantial and quality without being too heavy to wear on your ears. What surprised me was the presentation. They are probably one of the least costly items that DY makes and yet they came so beautifully presented in a box with a cleaning cloth and a little jewelry pouch. I think the presentation makes them extra giftable. They're classic but they're also very on-trend right now. They're subtle for everyday wear but make enough of a statement to dress up something like a white tee and jeans. They come in a few different sizes and widths, but I really love the exact size that I got.
Now I want the bracelet because you know...if you give a mouse a cookie...
Some other outfits where I am wearing the earrings...
