Soft Services Body Lotion vs. Uni Body Serum

Soft Services Body Lotion vs. Uni Body Serum

Today I'm chatting about two moisturizers I have been using over the last several months that have earned a spot on my shelf. The older I get, the more serious I am about taking care of not just my face, but all of my skin, and these two deserve a highlight.

Soft Services
The first few times I used this moisturizer, I wasn’t all that impressed. The texture is thinner than many others I’ve tried, and it takes a few minutes to fully absorb into the skin, which initially felt like a drawback. It did hydrate well, and I appreciate the pump nozzle for easy application. But given the price point, I wasn’t convinced it was worth it at first.

Then, after using it about four times, it clicked.

It truly softened my skin. I’ve heard products claim to soften skin before, but I don’t think I ever really understood what that meant until I started using this. It has completely transformed how my skin feels, especially after shaving. My legs are unbelievably smooth and silky, which sounds like a cliche, but I mean it. The extra few minutes it takes to absorb? Completely worth it. I use it all over after showering, although I avoid applying it to my legs right before heading out into hot, humid weather, as it's so deeply moisturizing.

Once it sinks in, there's no sticky or greasy residue; really, nothing detectable at all.

One of the standout ingredients is urea, a naturally occurring compound found in the outermost layer of the skin. I have a feeling it’s going to become a buzzy ingredient in skincare. It acts as a humectant, which is likely why it’s so effective, but also why I wouldn't reach for it on extra muggy days (trust me, I've been there!). It also has gentle exfoliating properties, which is a nice added bonus.

All in all, I’d highly recommend this. I imagine it’ll be even more of a game-changer in the colder months when my skin tends to get extra dry.

Uni Body Serum
Compared to the Soft services, this is less runny and incredibly lightweight. Serum is not the word I'd use as it's more of a gel-lotion hybrid than a serum or a traditional cream moisturizer. It sinks in almost instantly, leaving no sticky or greasy residue. I love how quickly I can apply it and get dressed without waiting for it to dry. This works well as a quick touch-up on my legs once I am dressed and just need a dose of good moisture. The scent is fresh and subtle, with a clean, unisex aroma that is slightly woodsy and citrusy, yet not overpowering. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth, but not necessarily softened like the Soft Services cream. I wouldn’t reach for it if my skin were feeling extremely dry, but for everyday use, especially in warmer months, it’s perfect. I also appreciate that this comes as a pump dispenser, and I love the aluminum bottle. My husband is willing to use this one, whereas he is not as keen on using the Soft Services one! Read the reviews because they are all glowing. I can't really think of one negative thing to say about this product.

Unretouched photos so you can see the consistency of the two products side-by-side. I don't think you really need both, but it all comes down to what your skin needs. I personally like to switch back and forth, and my husband sticks to the Uni. Either way, they're both 'clean' products and they work well! The good thing is you can't go wrong with either!
