Yesterday was one of my girlfriend’s birthdays, so we kicked off the celebration with a morning of apple picking at Simmons Farm. I hadn’t been to Simmons since a childhood field trip, and I’m not sure why, but we always seem to end up at Trax Farms instead. Both spots are wonderful, but there’s something especially charming and quaint about Simmons that I really loved.
We enjoyed wandering the orchard, and going right when they opened on a Tuesday was a genius move because we practically had the place to ourselves! I came home with more apples than I know what to do with. I’m not much of a baker, so I’ll be sharing with friends and neighbors, and I might even try my hand at making apple butter. We'll see!
Outfit-wise, I wasn’t quite sure what to wear. We had a few crisp days last week that had me excited for fall, but it’s back to the mid-80s now! Mornings and evenings are cooler, but the heat returns fast. I settled on this look. It's not an all-time favorite, but it's worth sharing as a reminder that not every outfit has to be your best ever. This one struck the right balance between autumnal style, dressing for early fall temps, and practical comfort for a morning outdoors. Speaking of practical, I love wearing these bike shorts under dresses, like today's outfit!
The outfit is made up of all basic pieces. Separately, each piece can be styled many ways! Anyway, we had such a nice morning. Seeing some pumpkins and fall decor got me very excited for fall, which will officially arrive on Monday!
