August Favorites

I round up my favorite things each month for a monthly favorites list. At the end of the year, I pull from each monthly list and create a yearly favorites list. Here is my 2024 favorites list. It's my way of keeping track of the very best things. The lists work because when I look back on the past few years, most things on each list are still my favorites. My only rule is that I don't repeat items from month to month or year to year, so there is no overlap.

Mascara// It’s a new product from DIBS and one of the best mascaras I have ever used! One side of the mascara is a primer. What makes it unique is that it is brown. Most primers are white. The brush is different, too. It’s a silicone brush with separated bristles, so it acts almost as a comb, separating the lashes. This is a tubing mascara, so removing it is sooo easy. No smudging onto my eyelid. Since it is brown, you can wear it on its own. I particularly like to use this on my bottom lashes for a clean, natural look. The right side of the wand is the black mascara. It has a fuller brush with many more bristles. This is a thicker formula that plumps and lengthens the lashes. It doesn’t clump and works beautifully! I don't think my discount code still works, but plugging in SYDNEY is worth a try, why not!

White Blouse// This lightweight blouse looks like Doen, but the price tag is more wallet-friendly. It's lightweight and classic. It pairs with most things effortlessly. It runs a touch big. I got a small, but I probably should have sized down to the XS.

Shampoo + Conditioner// I honestly did not expect to like this at all. I hesitated to even give it a chance. This is Brooke Shields' new haircare line. I don't know about you, but a celebrity beauty line does nothing to draw me in, considering they are a dime a dozen these days. However, I tried this and was shocked by how much I love it. It's a shampoo and conditioner that smells amazing, nourishes my hair, and doesn't contain any 'bad' ingredients. This is also silicone-free, which is a buzzy thing right now in haircare. I'm a hardcore Wella devotee and occasionally like to use the Redken (white bottle), but I'm going to add this into the mix.

Jeans// These are a great wash and have stretch, making them incredibly comfortable, but they don't look like they have stretch. I love the mid to high-ish rise and the straight leg. They feel modern but classic at the same time. These run true to size.

Pajamas Set// I always love Lake pajamas, but this set with the navy base and white thin stripes is one of my favorites they have ever designed. You get a crewneck top with shorts and pants, so you can wear them year-round. The dark navy just feels polished and classic. I wish they'd do more dark bases like this!

Black Lounge Shorts Set// I LOVE this set. This will *for sure* make the 2025 favorites list at the end of the year. It's the simplest short-sleeve tee and shorts set, but there are so many things that set it apart from other sets that look similar. The crewneck is perfect, the length of the sleeves is ideal, the tee is boxy and comfortable without looking frumpy or too cropped. The fabric is lightweight and wonderfully soft. The shorts have a nice, thick elastic waistband that is flattering and always stays in place. The shorts are the exact right length and are roomy without looking dumpy. I really have no notes on this set. It's the ideal fit, in my opinion. I get a size medium. I have the shorts and tee set right now, but I'll definitely get the pants as the weather cools down. I'm hoping the pants are as good as the shorts!

Clear Travel Pouch// Before I received these clear travel pouches, they seemed kind of silly to me. However, now that I have traveled with them several times, I get the hype. They fit so nicely in my luggage, and I love that I can see everything inside the pouch. They wipe clean easily, and the magnet closure is incredibly strong. I could not recommend them more. The price is steep for a travel basic, so this would be a really nice gift.

Hypochlorous Acid Spray// Hypochlorous acid is really having a moment right now. It's actually what we use to clean our kitchen and bathroom surfaces with (it's called Force of Nature). It's anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and non-toxic. Besides cleaning, it's being used in skincare now to calm skin. For instance, I developed contact dermatitis the other day and applied the Prequel spray to the affected area. It helped alleviate the burning sensation, and the rash cleared up. I have sprayed it on an unfortunate sunburn, and it helped heal the spot so much. I also like to spray it on my face after a workout to keep acne away. Tower28 is another brand known for its hypochlorous acid spray. I prefer this Prequel brand because the spray is a better, fine mist that doesn't soak my face like the other brand! My husband has incredibly sensitive skin, and he has also fallen in love with this. I truly could not recommend this more for anyone with any type of skin.

Leggings// A pair of black leggings seems boring to include, but I love how these leggings are lightweight but still sculpting. They are so comfortable, smooth, and sleek. They're just a really great pair of black leggings. I get a size small.

Coffee Maker// I won't go into much detail since I did a full review in a blog post a few weeks ago, but if you are looking for a new drip coffee maker, we have fallen in love with this one!

Handbag// I love the half moon shoulder bags that are very 'in' right now. They seem so early 2000s and bring me so much nostalgia. This dark brown leather bag is buttery smooth and a gorgeous, on-trend bag for fall/winter.

Rug// This rug is stunning. I took a gamble ordering from Etsy, but this came faster than expected and is even better than I expected. The colors are gorgeous and the quality is perfect. I could not recommend this seller more! There are so many gorgeous rug options in various sizes and colors, all reasonably priced and made with natural wool fibers!
