Designs by Kara Kihm: the Madee

Now that we are officially into November, I feel that it is totally appropriate to start posting about Christmas/Holiday topics. One, because I love anything and everything to do with the Christmas and Thanksgiving season and two, because this is the time when it is most appropriate to dress up wherever you go!

I've blogged about the Etsy store Designs by Kara Kim in the past (here and here) because she made me the most gorgeous gameday dress that has been such a hit during the football season. Well, if you don't know, she has a blog as well and showcases all of her fabulous designs in blog posts. Well, I was reading her blog the other day and just about died over the Madee dress. Seriously, it's perfection in dress form.

Isn't it the PERFECT holiday dress? I love plaid, I love red around Christmas time, I love ruffles and full skirts... I really just love everything about this dress!
There is even a bow in the back to complete this perfect little dress. I loved it so much I knew I couldn't keep it to myself.
I picture it with black tights and black heels or gold/dark green/black flats with a black pashmina and a long black wool coat.
Are you as in love with the Madee as I am? Have a fabulous day!

Weekend Recap!

Friday I went hiking! I have always wanted to go since my freshman year and wanted to do it before I graduated. Definitely glad I did! The weather was perfect and the fall trees looked beautiful. It was a lot of work but worth the view!
Friday night my roomie (left) and I and some other girls in my sorority went to a band party! The band was great-- mostly all country music!
Saturday was the homecoming game so I wore my Erin dress by Designs by Kara Kihm (If you follow me on Twitter, I tweeted this picture on Saturday!) that I am absolutely in love with! I got so many compliments and love that it fits so perfectly. The Erin can be made in any color for any school so if you're in need of a gameday dress, Designs by Kara Kihm is the way to go! You'll be the belle of the tailgate!
My roomie and I again! She is wearing my dress from Jolie and Elizabeth! Love that dress as well; doesn't she look great in it?! I'm also in love with my Lilly Pulitzer sunglasses. cCm got me another pair for my birthday this past April and I love them as well-- Lilly makes great, affordable and stylish sunglasses. I'm also newly in love with my Penfield Kasson jacket. It was quite chilly that day and there was a pretty significant chance of rain so this jacket was my best bet.
Sunday I tried out blogging bff Hopsy of Monograms and Manicures extremely easy recipe for pumpkin muffins. They turned out perfectly and made my entire downstairs smell deliciously of fall scents. I would definitely go with the spice cake mix if you like a good pumpkin flavor. I iced several with cream cheese frosting and while I didn't love it (too sweet for me) others like the frosting. This is definitely an easy recipe and it made around 18 muffins! I definitely recommend trying out this recipe--thank you to Hopsy for sharing!!!
What did you do this past weekend?
Have a fabulous day!

Fall Essentials Part 3: The Gameday Dress

If you're school is not into gameday dresses then disregard this post. Or, be unique and stand out (and very well dressed) and wear a gameday dress anyway!
I just got my gameday dress from Designs by Kara Kihm-- Kara is from Richmond, VA and has just recently started her Etsy site and I LOVE everything that she creates herself! There are 8 styles available including the Fair, Annapolis, Brooke, Amanda, Lily, McCarrick, Elizabeth Anne, and Erin. I got my gameday dress in the Erin cut and absolutely love it.
This is one of the pictures from the website. I love the color combinations in this picture! The dresses fit so perfectly as well! Kara can make any dress custom but order 2-4 weeks in advance to allow time for it to be made so you get your dress on time!
This is the front of my dress. I love the ruffle neckline and the crisp white top. The sizes run pretty true to size. I got a size four and usually wear between a 2 and 4 and the 4 fits just right. The dress is nipped right in the waist to give you a great figure and the skirt is straight making you look long and lean. The entire dress is lined and overall the dress is wonderfully made--you can tell by the seams and stitching that this dress is extremely well made.
I love the bow detail on the back waist of the dress. It adds the perfect girly touch and fun to the back. I also love that the ruffles go all the way around the collar. The back has darting in it below and above the waist to assure a great fit and clean silhouette.

Here is a close-up of the top half of the dress. The front is also darted near the bust giving the dress a great, comfortable fit. The neckline is v-neck but you can tell from the pictures on their website and from my picture above that the neckline is still conservative and not too revealing.
Designs by Kara Kihm is perfect for any woman looking for the perfect and unique gameday dress that no one else will have!
If you're not in need of a gameday dress, DBKK also has other gorgeous offerings. Think horse races, tea parties, baby showers, weddings, and any other event where a pretty dress is a must! I am obsessed with the above dresses-- The Amanda and the Lily. How perfect are both of them? I cannot wait to do an OOTD post featuring my gameday dress so you can all see how perfect it is on!!

Are you ready to do gameday in style? Don't you just love all of Kara Kihm's beautiful creations?! Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe
