Black + Brown OOTD

I used to think that pairing black + brown was a "no no". Really, what I have learned, is that with fashion, there are no "no no's". Really, you can do whatever you want. And if someone doesn't like what you are wearing, well, it's not really your problem! I think that's actually one of the best things about creating your style. In life there are all sorts of rules, but with your personal style, the options are really endless. Well, I thought I would highlight how I recently paired black and brown for a cute Sunday brunch look!

The button down is black with brown equestrian accents so it can go either way which is actually why I purchased the shirt. It was a very mild day so I didn't even need a full jacket. I just threw on the liner from my Barbour jacket. This is the kids liner... It is plenty big enough and it was a lot less $$$.

The K. Slademade clutch helped to tie in the belt and shoes and the navy accents went with the denim. I like this look because it's not too matchy-matchy, but I think it flows well. For my hair... well, it wasn't cooperating so I just twisted it up into a top knot (not to be confused with the infamous sock bun).

Do you pair black and brown? Have a fabulous day!

Christmas Eve OOTD

Remember my Christmas Eve outfit post? Well... without further ado, here it is!

At first cCm put my hair into a sock bun. My bun was the size of a dinner plate. Seriously, it was ridiculous (Did I mention that I have SO much hair). So I had to nix the bun, and move on.

I opted for simple, per-usual curls.

I paired black lace with green satin for a very elegant/conservative look.

A festive mani (every time I get a gel mani, I am reminded of why they are the best)!

Both top and bottom are from Talbots. I kept it simple with jewelry just because I was a tad over the top for Christmas Eve mass. However, if I were going to a "fancy" event where this look would be more appropriate, I would have worn statement pearls and layered on the bangles/cocktail rings.

What did you wear Christmas/Christmas Eve? Have a fabulous day!

Country Squire Haberdashery

Today I wanted to highlight a Summer Wind sponsor because of some fabulous OOTD's I put together a few weeks ago compliments of Country Squire Haberdashery. The fabulous boutique located in Florida at Lauderdale By the Sea has any woman or man's preppy need. From Vinyeyard Vines to Lilly, they have got you covered.

Isn't the embroidered Castaway Clothing skirt adorable? I paired it with the J. Crew Schoolboy Blazer and a Ralph Lauren white oxford for a work appropriate look.

This was a post work outfit on one of the last warm days of the season. The Lilly sweater kept me warm while the patchwork Callahan shorts popped!

I think the Angela Moore bracelet topped off the look well, don't you? Have you shopped CSH? Check it out if you haven't:

Mixed Bag Monday

Happy day off of work/school! To start this fun Monday off (there are not too many fun Monday's in the year!) I give you this song that I have had on repeat recently. It's not a new song, but I just discovered it. I love Nora Jones but had never heard her song "Back to Manhattan" and I am obsessed. It's very calming and sounds great when you play it loudly throughout the house or in your car!

Happy listening! Quick tip: if you are on Pandora or someone suggests a song, I always have a note section that holds all of the songs I want to check out once I get to my computer. Sometimes, I'll even take screen shots of the songs on Pandora and then I just look through my picture folder on my iPhone and look them up from there!

Last order of business on this holiday Monday is to show you two different outfits that I posted on Instagram  (@SummerWind41490). In both outfits I am wearing the same skirt but completely changed the look of it. This is a great way to make use of what you have in your closet without going out and spending on a new wardrobe! Do you mix and match outfits? Have a fabulous day!

OOTD: $30

Yep, you read the title right, this outfit was only $30. I wore it on Thanksgiving and got so many compliments. Now, the $30 is only for the top and pants, not the jewelry and the shoes, etc... But still, a steal of an outfit if I must say so myself. The pants were only around $10 from Forever21 and I absolutely love them. As I write this post I am even wearing them. I really wish I would have bought at least 5 more pairs because they are extremely comfortable and can be dressed up or down and fit like a glove. I can't find the exact pair in any store or online since I purchased these 3 years ago. I am dreading for the day to come when they fall apart from getting so much wear.

In fact, the only pairs I have ever even found comparable to fit, comfort, and style are these and these and they are 10x the price which I can't bring myself to pay after getting my beloved pants for $10.  Ok, ok, I will stop rambling about the pants.

The top is also from Forever21 and I can't remember the exact price but it was somewhere around $20. It looks and feels like a much pricier upscale top. Not to mention it's fun and festive for the holiday season.
I must have had it for a while now because this picture is several years old. I've said it time and time again, Forever21 is a great place to shop for trendier items and things that you will only wear several times and for a really great price.
Do you shop Forever21? Have a fabulous day!

sCe

OOTD: November

If you follow me on Tumblr, then you have already seen some of these outfits but I thought I'd share them with everyone!

This was actually on Halloween so that's why I'm wearing black and orange.
Top: Ralph Lauren
Pashmina: gift
Denim: Hudson
Shoes: Tory Burch
This was for a casual Sunday sorority chapter meeting.
Button Down: Brooks Brothers
Down Vest: Gap
Leggings: Talbots
Shoes: Tory Burch
This was for a long day of classes meetings and library time. If you follow me on Twitter, then you'll recognize this from my Tweet about me being featured on College Fashionista. A girl stopped me in the library asking me if she could take my picture and interview me! How fun!
Here is the actual picture. Credit goes to College Fashionista!
Blazer: Liz Claiborne (mom got this for me last Christmas on super sale from I think Macy's)
Tank: borrowed from a roommate (reminds me that I need an ivory tank)
Legging Pants: Ann Taylor
Boots: L.L. Bean Deerfield Boot
I wore this for a presentation that I did on GolinHarris for one of my public relations courses.
Dress: Ann Taylor
Blazer: Ann Taylor
Shoes: Talbots
Here is a close-up of the blazer. I love it! It has grosgrain, crest buttons and a little shine in the fabric!
I wore this to the Hunger Banquet. It was a simulation of hunger in the world. It was a really great event put on by one of my sorority sisters. Very well done and shocking to hear in depth detail about hunger in the world.
Button Down: Ralph Lauren
Corduroy Skirt: Old Navy
Boots: Dan Post
I wore this on a really warm, sunny day to classes.
Button Down: Brooks Brothers
Skirt: Borrowed from roommate
Boots; Dan Post
I wore this for a presentation on Pittsburgh-- had so much fun with this speech!
Blazer: Forever21 for a steal!
Turtleneck: J. Crew
Plaid Silk Skirt: Hartstrings (it's a childrens store)
Shoes: Roommates from Italy

What have you been wearing lately? Unfortunately, it's getting a bit too cold now to go without tights in Virginia, but I love wearing tights so get ready for tights and skirts OOTDs to come! Have a fabulous day!

Happy 11-11-11 !!!

Do you have your wish ready for 11-11-11 at 11:11am and 11:11pm? Do you believe in wishing on 11:11? Some would say that this is epic and amazing, however, I'm not so sure I buy into all of that. But I won't deny that I will be wishing at both 11:11's! Why not?! I would tell you all what I am wishing for, but then it won't come true? Isn't that how it works?

Anyways, here are some recent OOTD's for your Friday enjoyment!
Dress: Ralph Lauren (girls)
Boots: Dan Post
I love the crests that Lauren uses on a lot of his clothing. Usually large logos really bother me, but I personally think that Ralph (for the most part) does his large logo tastefully---well, except for those huge pony polos).
This was a "hit the snooze button 203948203 times" kind of morning so please excuse my ratty hair.
Dress: Forever 21
Blazer: Talbots
Boots: Dan Post (I seriously live in these)
 denim oxford: Ralph Lauren
jeans: Joe's
Boots: Dan Post (see cowboy boots really are versatile!)

What have you been wearing this week? Have a fabulous day! Remember to make a wish!
Yours,
sCe
