Number One

Remember this song circa middle school?! Oh yeah you remember it. Anyway, as I am getting older (I cringe as I say that), my Christmas lists have evolved and changed. I have noticed that since college, instead of asking for little things like clothes, I usually have one "big" want. This year my big want is...drum roll....

I have wanted this ring since high school, but have always had it on the back burner... but now it has resurfaced and hopefully, Santa thinks that I have been a good girl this year!

Actually, I went through a Yurman phase around junior/senior year and I feel that the phase has returned ... because I want it all! Here are a few other picks that I wouldn't mind receiving from the man in the red suit.

What is your "big" item that you are hoping the man with the bag brings?!

Frockin'

I recently realized that I have never done a post on one of my favorite designers... Shoshanna. Shoshanna has the absolute best party frocks and the structured construction of most of the clothing makes it work appropriate as well. It's classic with a fun twist whether it be bold colors or fun embellishments.

1
Metallic, tweed and classic construction. Oh so perfect for work or play.

2
Ohh do I love this. That turquoise blue is perfect. I have a thing for mod and this definitely has a mod vibe to it. I also love the style of a straight up and down/shift type cut.

3
Throw on a strand of pearls, grab your gold glitter clutch and you are set for holiday parties!

4
I love the cut of this dress. It looks a tad short on the model, but hopefully that's just because she has super long legs!

5
I was head over heels with this dress this summer. This is actually on sale right now too!

Do you love Shoshanna? Have a fabulous day!

Monogramming with Barbour

I posted last month about my Barbour obsession and it hasn't ceased. I mean, it really is the perfect jacket. I have this wild thought in my mind... Ok, well it's not wild at all, but I can't seem to find anyone else that has done this... I want to monogram my Barbour jacket.

I looked into it and it looks like Barbour supports monogramming (see article, here). The website says,
Last weekend, Barbour’s Soho store hosted a monogramming event offering Barbour New York fans the chance to initial their favorite Barbour pieces. The store monogrammed more than 80 Barbour pieces, ranging from jackets to bags, while guests enjoyed store discounts and refreshments. Shoppers were so excited to add personal and life-long accents to their beloved Barbour products!
I was actually thinking about embroidering it on the left pocket in the same color as the jacket (nice and small). However, I can't decide if that is too "showy".

What do you think? Is it a go, or no go? Thanks for your input and have a fabulous day!

Giving Thanks

For every meal we eat as a family (which is several times a week) we say the prayer:
Bless us, Oh Lord, and these thy gifts whichwe are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord.Amen.
I don't think there is a time where we didn't say this prayer. Well, on holidays, my grandpa would say a little something extra. We all hold hands around the table, bow our heads and he would say a few words before our usual prayer. So in memory of him and all of my family that cannot be with us on Thanksgiving, here is Grandpa's prayer:
May this food bless and nourish our bodies,
bless our loved ones near and far,
for we pray in the name Lord Jesus Christ,
Amen.
It is short, sweet and to the point. So today, I am thankful that I can remember Grandpa's prayer. What are you thankful for? From my family to yours, have a safe, happy Thanksgiving and a joyful holiday season. It's Christmas music time!!!

Baring it All

I came across this picture on Tumblr the other day and it brought up a question. The girl in the picture is wearing high heels and bare legs... in the middle of a blizzard. While this picture is cute, it doesn't exactly scream practical

The question is, what do you think about bare legs in the winter? On one hand, tights add warmth and hide your pale legs. On the other hand, some dresses/outfits just don't look right with tights. In some climates, like the South, you can get away with not wearing tights because of the warmer temperatures, but bare legs just do not seem justifiable during wintertime above the Mason Dixon Line. What are your thoughts?

Gift Guide: Spa Edition

It's that time of year again... Gift Guide time! Let's kick things off with a Spa gift Guide. This guide is perfect for people that "have everything" and for people that are "hard to shop for". Spa products are available in most price ranges which is another big plus!

To get the ideas flowing, here are Summer Wind's top products for holiday 2012....

I have been using this for several months now and can't think of a better product. You use it once a week and it makes your skin smooth and radiant... it's like getting a weekly facial at home.
Perfect for: Anyone that wants skin to have a youthful look.

L'Occitane Aromachologie Shampoo/Conditioner
This is hands down the best shampoo and conditioner. I only use it when I travel because it is definitely more pricey than my regular Dove shampoo/conditioner. It smells wonderful and leaves my hair silk smooth. Perfect for: Anyone who "has everything". This is definitely a unisex product.

I love Fresh's Sugar line. Lip polish is perfect for the winter months to cure lips of the awful chapped/dry spell and the Sugar Passion has just the right amount of color for everyday use.
Perfect for: A beauty snob. This is for someone who loves to try tons of different products. This is a beauty staple and you can never have too many Sugar balms!
Best lip balm. I stash these in coat pockets, my handbags and my car. Purchase a few and use them as stocking stuffers.
Perfect for: Anyone. Young to old, guy to gal, everyone can appreciate a good lip balm.

My dad loves Anthony's products and uses them daily.
Perfect for: Your boyfriend, a male friend with sensitive skin, a business man who travels a lot.

In my opinion, this is the best scent there is.
Perfect for: Someone who likes light scents. Grandma, aunt, mother, etc.

I loved this scent so much that I purchased two bottles. It is limited edition so I was worried it would disappear! It's very light but still has "woodsy" notes.
Perfect for: Your best friend or sister.

Butter London Polish Trio
Perfect holiday shades!
Perfect for: Polish addicts, girly girls alike!

What would you add to the list? Have a fabulous day!

sCe

Maniac Magazine

I attended the Maniac Mag event a few nights ago to celebrate their holiday issue featuring Nikki Reed! Maniac Magazine is a Pittsburgh based publication featuring fashion, culture and lifestyle articles.

Funnily enough, Pittsburgh was rated the 3rd worst dressed city just behind LA and Boston and among Martha's Vineyard and Manhattan. I think that is in part because of all of the sports gear that people wear everyday. Maniac, along with many others in Pittsburgh are trying to change the Pittsburgh fashion scene and highlight what Pittsburgh has to offer in regards to style. Pittsburgh must know some realm of fashion because ModCloth's headquarters are in Pittsburgh!

The party was low-key with some hors d'ouevres, manicure stations and some cocktails.

I loved reading the feature on Twilight's own, Nikki Reed along with some of the other articles.

I got a chance to chat with Steph from Glam and Graffiti! Her blog is fabulous and covers a lot of the Pittsburgh style scene so be sure to check it out! I wore a black peplum top from Zara and pink silk pants from Talbots. All in all, the event was great and it was fun to connect with other bloggers! Have a fabulous day!

Hostess Giving the Mostest

During the holiday season, it is almost inevitable that you will be the hostess at some point. You are planned to host, but you should also plan to be a guest. Sure, you can always just show up, but here are some tips on how to be a fabulous guest during the holiday season!

Arrive with a bottle of something. Cupcake prosecco is a great inexpensive bubbly option while Veuve is a little pricier, but oh-so-good. Have several bottles of each on hand during the holiday season and you will have a winning hostess gift...even last minute! As for wine brands, I recommend Cakebread as your higher end and Campo Viejo as your average bottle. If you know the host or hostess enjoys something specific, try making time to pick up a bottle of their favorite. If the host/hostess doesn't drink, think about giving something like a gourmet set of teas or hot chocolate.

If you want to jazz up the bottle, I always suggest taking a tea towel, like the plaid one above from Williams-Sonoma and wrapping the bottle in the towel and adorning with a large bow. This is a festive but useful addition

Attach a gift tag and you are all set! I make my own, print them on heavy card stock, cut them, and attach with ribbon or double sided tape (whichever is appropriate for the gift). I find that making your own is a way to create a unique, personalized gift!

What is your go-to hostess gift? Have a fabulous day!

sCe

Clubmasters

Remember when I posted my wish list not too long ago? Well, I have checked off the Clubmasters and I am in love. They are by far my favorite pair. There is something about them that is one part classic and one part chic and I just feel polished when sporting them!

I got the classic tortoise/gold/green combo and am very please. I like that they are a lot more"sturdy" than my aviators. I think the all metal frame and arms of the aviators makes them a little more delicate which is hard to wear on an everyday basis. These have become my go to sunglasses in the past few weeks.

I am a big fan of Olivia Palermo's style and she wears the Clubmasters well!

I love Mac Miller's music, and looks great in them as well.

I saw Argo a few weeks ago and noticed John Goodman sporting a pair. Great movie, great sunglasses.

Don't love Ed Westwick, but I do love his character, Chuck Bass, so I had to include this photo! Do you have Clubmasters? What are you favorite pair of sunglasses? Have a fabulous day!

Freedom is Never Free

‎"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." -Elmer Davis

Today especially, but everyday, may we never forget the men and women who have fought for our country. Today I remember my veteran, my grandfather, wCm Sr.

God Bless the USA.

Gap is Mad for Plaid

Do not walk, run to your nearest Gap. I have honestly not shopped there in years. In my opinion, it had a real dry spell. Well, this season, Gap seems to be back on track. After reading EAS from Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore (she has the best taste!) blog about these shoes and a discount code, I was sold. They are the Canvas Loafers. The only thing I will say is that they are only really worth what you pay for them. The material is thin as well as the sole but that does in turn, make them super comfortable. They will most likely last a winter or two instead of several years.

Right now I have my eye on this flannel shirt dress. If I end up purchasing, I plan on wearing a turtleneck underneath or a puffer vest on top. I love the booties with the dress and have just the pair! I think thick wool tights will be necessary as well.

And who knows... maybe Santa will come down the chimney with this pretty blazer. Can you tell I have a thing for plaid?

Last on my Gap list, this cardigan. I may just have to hole up and hibernate in this all winter long. Cozy.

Even better, as if you needed more of a reason to shop, Gap is donating clothing and funds to victims of Sandy!

Have you shopped Gap recently?  What are your picks? Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe
