Hippity Hoppity Happy Easter!

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him."- John 3:16-17

Did You Know?

YSL vs. L'Oreal

The beauty portion of YSL is owned by L'Oreal. L'Oreal purchased YSL in 2008 and the lipsticks are exact duplicates in formula. Yes, that $25 price difference is strictly based on prettier packaging and the YSL name alone. While I am a sucker for packaging, I will keep my YSL tubes in my handbag for a more glamorous application and my L'Oreal's for at home application.

I haven't yet tried the L'Oreal lip products, but you better be sure that I will be going to my nearest Target and trying out a bunch... You can almost purchase 4 L'Oreal colors for the price of one YSL.

Do you have a favorite L'Oreal lip product and/or color that you swear by? I am totally interested... please dish!

Have a fabulous day!

Chasing Summers

"It's always summer somewhere."

I'm going stir crazy, can you tell? These photos have me itching for summer. I have been listening to Bob Marley and Peter Tosh on repeat... oh and this song too, which inspired the post. I'm not an electronic music person but this is great for working out!

Watch with glittering eyes...

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hiding in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." - Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl, you were a smart man.

I can only speak for myself, but I think around this time of year, I always seem to feel "stuck in a rut". Right now, I'm feeling extra stuck and I blame that on the weather. I've heard talk of seasonal depression, but that's never been something I could relate to. You see, I love the snow. Absolutely love it. I think it is beautiful, romantic even. I love all things that come with snow: cashmere, down blankets, hot cocoa, warm fires, Christmas, and fair isle. In fact, one of my most ideal places is being curled up in a cabin on a mountain after a long day of skiing. I really don't mind the cold either... until now.

I am starting to feel that I can relate with seasonal depression (okay, so I'm being slightly dramatic) but this harsh cold and snowy weather has gone on for too long! I am thoroughly bored of bundling up and even more sick of the tediousness of running out to my car at 7am to turning on the heat so it will be toasty.

I long for the south, where the cold is not as severe and the sun is shining. I can't wait until I get to visit my friends in just a short week and a half... I have literally said prayers that it is warm while I am below the Mason Dixon!!

Anyways, my point is (and Roald said it best), that you have to seek the "magic" in life. I am utterly determined to be positive about everything in life... and really, why shouldn't everyone? I thought in my attempt to battle this stingily cold weather in hopes for spring, I would share some "magic" that I have found recently...
  • I get to see my friends down south very soon
  • My birthday is coming up in 3 short weeks
  • One of my sorority sisters moved to Pittsburgh last month!!
  • I got a gold Starbucks card... finally
  • I just created a rockin' new playlist (post to come!)
  • I have been toning up the bod' for the upcoming bathing suit weather (or at least trying to!!)
  • I finally got a Netflix account and have been getting into House of Cards
  • Summer Wind's face lift is almost ready to be revealed
  • I got new books... nothing better!
So what is your "magic" that you find in everyday things? Another way to find the magic: give it to someone else. Pay for their Starbucks, hold a door open, tell them to have a nice day, or just smile.

Have a fabulous day! I hope you find some magic today!

Tuckernuck 20% off: SUMMERWINDSPRING20

One of my favorite online boutiques, Tuckernuck, released its' spring catalog just last week. Looking through the pages, I couldn't find one thing that I disliked... I mean their products are just perfect... and even more so perfectly styled!

While I love browsing the site, I especially love the #Tuckernucking section where they highlight instagrams that have been hashtagged. They are so much fun to see how others are styling their Tuckernuck pieces.

Get 20% off your next order from "tnuck" with the code "SUMMERWINDSPRING20".
What do I want to use the 20% off code for....

So... I only learned how to hit a tennis ball as of last spring... But I am desperate to learn so I can get this Just Madras racket cover

...anddddd "befriend" Tommy Haas.

And while I'm at it, I'd really like to learn to play somewhere, you know, aesthetically pleasing... to help  me concentrate.

And this printed pretty. Fab, just fab... so perfect for post-tennis dining with my date, Tommy. Alright, I've gotten ahead of myself a bit ;)

Have a fabulous day!

Ted Baker

Ted Baker has only recently caught my eye. I think it is partially that I couldn't afford dear old Ted while in college and because the line has a lot of wear-to-work pieces. Now, that I sport the wear-to-work look more often than now and I can afford TB, the brand has become a new favorite.

I am so not a "heel girl" but these are calling my name.

I am loving the large and small makeup cases. They remind me of something the grown-up Eloise would use to store her makeup on-the-go.

This is one of those perfect wear-to-work, -wear-to-play, versatile dresses. A little pricey for a work dress, but as a wardrobe staple, it is well worth it.

These are perfect. They are jelly, so they would make the perfect little rain flat. They come in many colors. I like the neutral but am also loving the bright pink.

Pink, printed denim. These remind me of something that Kate Spade or J. Crew might have come up with. A little different, a little wild, but hey, that's what makes them fun!

And, two on sale gems. A pretty little cocktail dress and the perfect nude flat. You go, Ted Baker!

Go Green

Remember when I posted about Country Squire's gorgeous Lilly colored denim? Well... I had to do another post because they are so perfect. Do yourself a favor and get a pair. They are the most comfortable pants in this entire world.

I wore the green denim on St. Patrick's day with a cream silk top from Talbots. Danielle and I wore a very similar outfit, so of course we had to get a picture! I love that she had cheetah Sperrys with her ensemble (she has the best style!).

Speaking of Country Squire Haberdashery? Do you follow them on Instagram? I am obsessed with their posts...

The Nantucket red and seersucker Bonanno's are made especially for CSH! Talk about the perfect sandal.

Have a fabulous day!

#BoysInBarbour

When it comes to how the opposite sex dresses I am no expert but I know that I am picky. In fact, there are some poor style choices that drive me nuts. To give you an example, it drives me crazy when men wear their ski jacket over a nice suit... And believe me, with the crazy temps in Pittsburgh,  I see far too much of this look. Among others, it also drives me nuts if a guys khakis are ill fitting. Just the other day, I saw a guy wearing baggy pleated khakis. Excuse me for being so harsh, but barf. Of course, with fashion, there are no rules, but I have to say, too many guys take advantage of the lack of rules. Not to sound hypocritical, of course, because so many women wear nutty ensembles and take advantage of the "no rules in fashion" category as well (I am probably an offender from time to time).

There are many things that I think a well dressed gent should have in his closet (a well tailored suit, the perfect khaki, Gucci loafers, bow ties aplenty, etc.) but my number one pick is a Barbour (or Barbour style) jacket. You all know my love for my Barbour jacket ; I think it is an essential for both ladies and gents. Seriously, when I see a guy in a Barbour Bedale or Beaufort, I do a double take. It's laid back, sporty, preppy, sensible, and put together all at the same time. (photos via Pinterest/Tumblr)

See what I mean? Pretty cute, right?

Something I love even more than a guy in a Barbour? Couples in matching Barbours. I  mean, it's cute... really cute. I am guessing that most guys would beg to differ, but I can't help myself! What do you think of #BoysInBarbour? Do you match your beau? Have a fabulous day!

Summer Wind Readers Share!

Remember when I posted about my graduation cap and how I decorated it? Well, it's only taken me a month, but some Summer Wind readers sent me photos of their amazing caps and they are just too fabulous not to share!

A fellow Steeler fan, Caroline decorated hers in Lilly with a pretty monogram. She also had bird stickers because it was a special thing between her and her mom. Such a neat thought!

This is Jessica of the Preppy Post Grad's cap. I love that she outlined her monogram!

This pink and green beauty was created by @barbiedoll313. Love that she added a bow to one the corners!

And this is Andrea's fun red, white and blue cap. I absolutely love the detailed woven aspect... so creative and different!

Are you planning on decorating? Did you decorate yours? Thanks to those who sent in their caps-- I loved sharing them! Have a fabulous day.

Lent Update

First and foremost, I want to thank each and everyone of you who commented on yesterdays post. I know in "today's world", most of us don't always have time to comment, but it was refreshing to hear many opinions and different voices. However, frivolous the subject, I think it was interesting to have varying ages and people from different parts of the country share their thoughts. Isn't that one of the best things about blogging?! I think so.

It looks like my norts and frocket ensembles are here to stay... I always knew I was meant to be southern, anyways...just born on the wrong latitude ;).

So now onto today's topic of discussion... Once again I am teaming up with Southern ShopaholicTickled PinkGlitter and Gingham for our weekly lent update. I ended up not posting last week due to my crazy schedule! Remember we all gave up shopping for lent ? See past posts here, here, and here.

Well, I have been doing....uhhh... decent...I will explain. Although I will say that I cannot wait to get a gel-mani. I hate waiting for my nails to dry. And don't even get me started about when my nails chip... it drives me nuts!!!! So that is something I am really missing right about now!

Let me explain the whole "decent" thing. Here's the thing, I have several packages on their way to me. However I have justified all of them.

I used a J. Crew rewards card for only one thing at J. Crew which is a pretty big deal because usually my J. Crew packages are very large. My total paired with the rewards card ended up meaning that I barely spent anything.

I also placed an order at Sephora. I realize that I am a Sephora junkie. At least I acknowledge it, right? This "awaken your complexion" kit is an amazing price. For $32 you get all of these great Tarte products. Tarte is one of my new favorite brands because it is non-comedogenic and natural. The only reason I purchased this is because I just ran out of the sample that Sephora gave me and needed some, plus I had a gift certificate and free shipping coupon so therefore, I spent very little...meaning it doesn't count, right?!

I also ordered some books. Three to be exact, but books are good for the brain, so therefore, it doesn't count. Anddd... I may have had a stint with La Perla. But you can't go without a bra, now can you?!

See, I have this way of justifying pretty much anything. Really, I should have written up a contract for myself when this whole lent thing started. Oops. Time to pull myself together and finish strong. Only 16 more days left.

Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

Norts + Frockets+ Koozie + Croakies

Social media is great if you use it properly. I love it when brands, companies, and people use it for conversation purposes... you know, what it was made for. For example, yesterday I love that I received so much feedback on my glasses options. It was fantastic and I thank you all for your input... stay tuned to find out which frames I end up with!

Now, I would like you all to weigh in on this subject which really has me bothered.... or well, confused, really.

It was common place in college to wear "norts", an oversized "frocket", patagonia and either Jack Rogers or tennis shoes complete with croakies and some jewelry. Now,  I realize that for some readers, "norts" and "frockets" are not in your vocabulary. I remember coming home from school and referring to my "norts and frockets" and my friends cracked up and asked me what in the world I was talking about. I was clearly sheltered by the world of JMU... I thought any college-aged girl would know exactly what I was referring to. For those of you that don't know the ridiculous lingo, "norts" are Nike Tempo shorts and a "frocket" is a pocket tee. To give you an idea, here is what the outfit looked like...

Casual

Ok, so let me first acknowledge that I realize that this is a completely "sloppy" outfit. But, in my opinion, it's not horrible. In fact, I actually like it for running those Saturday errands or those semi-hungover Sunday brunches at a diner type restaurant. And each piece is extremely comfortable.

But as much as I like it, I feel that this "look" is not accepted in the real world. I wore it often in college... never to class, but when I needed to run errands or when being "dressed" would have been odd. I quite frequently wore this look to our Sunday chapter meetings. I'd change it up with a crew-neck sweatshirt or rugby shirt.

I bring this up, because this past weekend it was warm. Around 65 degrees warm and that is super warm for Pittsburgh, especially at this time of year. It would have looked ridiculous if I put on real shorts but the whole "norts" ensemble seemed appropriate for the temperature. It was a Sunday and I was going to Target with my mom and sister. I came downstairs in my ensemble and my mom was not ok with it. My personal opinion is that it is totally fine to run errands in this look!!!

What do you all think? Did you wear this type of outfit in college? Do you agree with me and find that people aren't accepting of the "norts" ensemble in the "real world"?  I honestly have so many pocket tees, norts, patagonias and various other pullovers that it just seems ridiculous to get rid of all of them.

I also have noticed that people think it is SO weird when I whip a koozie out from my purse and use it in a bar or really, anywhere. I'm thinking that it is because I am north of the Mason Dixon line? Is the whole koozie thing a southern thing? We use them a ton at my lakehouse and it is common place. Same with the croakies. Is that just a male thing above the Mason Dixon line?? I have yet to see a girl around Pittsburgh with croakies. I get weird looks when I am wearing them and I have a billion koozies and croakies that I'd love to make use of.

Is it just a northern thing where this look isn't done? A lot of my friends that went to schools above the Mason Dixon line have said that this look wasn't popular at their schools. Or, is this just not done, ever, post-grad? So southerners, northerners, studuents and college grads, please weigh in!!

Have a fabulous day!

Sailor-Sailor by Just Madras

So you know my love for Just Madras (seriously, I have worn my Grace beach bag into the ground!!!). Well, they have come out with a new line appropriately called Sailor-Sailor. I, for one, am crazy about the nautical look during the summer. Navy and white is one of my favorite color combos and Sailor-Sailor combines the sailor look with an updated, feminine touch. Needless to say it's fabulous!

Can you resist? I just love that the clothing is made out of a jersey material. It makes for the perfect travel dress because it is resistant to wrinkles, comfortable and easy to throw on yet you still look put together. Needless to say, I am calling this a beach/lake dress!

Sailor-Sailor generously sent me the 3/4 sleeve dress for review. It is too perfect for Pittsburgh because sleeveless weather doesn't roll around until mid to late May! As for sizing, I would say it runs pretty true to size but a little generous in the hips. I am definitely going to wear this when I go to Watercolor this summer and our lake house! They also come in children's sizes so you and your mini can match!

What do you think? Have you shopped Just Madras or Sailor-Sailor? Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe
