Easy Caprese Skewers

All you need: grape tomatoes, basil and mini mozzarella balls.
Vineyard Vines sent me the cutest little derby package the other day. I am so excited because I am hosting and attending a derby party. Talk about a fun upcoming Saturday! Mine is actually way before the actual race and then I am headed to 2 other parties that day! Can't wait to share my outfit :)

In the package, VV sent me the cutest little toothpicks! I made caprese skewers with them-- I already made a batch because I am not-so-good in the kitchen so I thought I'd practice before I serve them to friends and family. Practice makes perfect, right? Luckily, this might be one of the easiest things to make. It's 3 ingredients and requires absolutely no cooking of any kind. I totally suggest making this for your next party! What's your super quick and easy go-to when hosting a party? Have a fabulous day!

Flirty Little Skirt

I'm loving this flirty little skirt that I picked up from the ShopBop friends and family sale! It was under $50 when I ordered which is always good in my book! It's fun and casual. Perfect for scooting around town on hot summer weekends. I love how they pair it with sneaks on the ShopBop website. I copied cCm and just ordered a pair of Jack Purcells! Just an FYI for those thinking of ordering, size up!! I ordered a size small (size I usually wear) and had to return and size up! It's a little bit short, so if you are tall, I'd skip out on this one. Have a fabulous day!

LLBean Boat and Tote

Does anyone else actually enjoy doing laundry? Yes, it's weird, but I mean warm, fresh laundry is definitely one of life's little pleasures for me.

The other day I was doing laundry and I realized I was without a basket... what to do, what to do? My L.L. Bean tote came in handy once again. Certainly, I'm not the first to use this as a laundry basket, but I cannot tell you how many uses I have found for these totes! From hauling wood to our outdoor fireplace to toting my weekend attire on a road trip, I'm never without one. College guys/girls: these totes are the best for move-in/out... especially for packing all of your heavy shoes!

What weird uses do you use your tote for? Have a fabulous day!

All by myself

I would consider myself a social butterfly, the definition of a chatty Cathy. I love making plans with friends, chatting on the phone, catching up over drinks, visiting friends, going on dates, etc. I also love watching movies with my family and having dinner with family, and I sure do love a good party.

However, I also really like being alone.

I am completely happy and OK with being by myself. I don't really ever admit this, but sometimes I intentionally make no plans with anyone for an entire weekend just so I can have time to myself. During that time, I'll go for coffee, get my favorite takeout, do laundry, clean, watch movies, work on my blog, send e-mails, get a mani/pedi, walk Mac, etc. Often, I will even put my phone on do-not-disturb so I can't be reached by anyone. To me, it is so refreshing. It's not to say that I don't enjoy the company of others, but sometimes I just need the time to myself. Some of my favorite parts of the weekends are just sitting with my coffee and reading.

Do you ever feel this way? I'm hoping I'm not the only weirdo ;) Have a fabulous day!

I love going to any type of sporting event and although I am not an avid baseball fan, I always support my home teams! PNC Park is the stadium where the Pirates play and it is truly an amazing stadium. The view is breathtaking and the firework nights are my absolute favorite.

What do you wear to a baseball game? Have a fabulous day; let's go bucs!

Romping Around in Yumi Kim

Romper (runs true to size)/ Heels (on sale, runs big, order half size down)/ Sunglasses (on sale!)

This weekend was absolutely beautiful! cCm kept telling us that she wasn't coming home from school for Easter and when I walked in the door on Friday, she was there! It was the best surprise!

Actually, my entire family was at our house for Easter. Family came in from Connecticut and Georgia and we were all together so it was wonderful! I hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend!

The outfit in the above photos is what I wore to dinner on Saturday night. We went to dinner on Mt. Washington-- it's the best because of the incredible view of the city! cCm and I stopped to take some photos before dinner. The view makes me fall in love with the city all over again. I love a good romper and this Yumi Kim number will be on repeat all summer long. It's so easy to just throw on.  I wore nude pumps but plan to wear it with Jacks or espadrille wedges, too.

Have a fabulous day!

Hanes Hosiery Giveaway!

Pretty city!

My well dressed friend, Greg, being a good sport and jumping in a photo!

Pretty architecture as seen from the rooftop.

I think we have finally hit some warm weather! Last week it snowed on Tuesday but was gloriously sunny and warm for the rest of the week! Late last week, some friends and I went to happy hour at Six Penn Kitchen in the theater district. They have a pretty rooftop and it was the perfect evening to enjoy some cocktails and apps! I love looking at all of the architecture around the city-- in some of the photos, you can see Heinz Hall behind me!

I also wanted to shoot this great J. Crew dress (on sale!) and let you know about the Hanes tights that I am wearing! This J. Crew dress is something I wouldn't have picked out for myself but my mom got it for me as a birthday present and I love it!

Since my skin hasn't seen the sun, I feel so pale when in sleeveless tops and skirts/dresses. Well, Hanes Hosiery sent me a bunch of their great products and something that stood out to me was their silk reflections sunkissed tights. I am wearing them in the above photos and you would never guess that I have tights on. They give my legs a flawless bronze look and you cannot tell I have anything on my legs! It also added a slight bit of extra warmth without wearing my typical black opaque tights. All of my friends couldn't believe I had anything on my legs-- they all had to touch them to believe me, ha!! I think these would be perfect for a spring wedding when you are doing an outdoor wedding but want your bridesmaids to be tanned and warm!

Hanes Hosiery is hosting a Save the Date Sanity sweepstakes through April 25th on their Facebook page!

The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and a sampling of tights valued at over $250. Daily winners will be selected Monday – Friday to receive a sampling of tights valued at over $50. Anyone 18+ in the U.S. can enter once a day for a chance to win the daily giveaway and the grand prize. You have until April 25th to enter, so head over the their Facebook page now for more details! Have a fabulous day!

Best Hand Lotion

Every night before I go to sleep, I make sure to put lotion on my hands. I have been alternating through some samples from Birchbox and Beauty Box 5 and have fallen in love with Peter Thomas Roth Mega Rich Body Lotion... funnily enough, this is from neither BB or BB5, but was in one of my hotel rooms at some point.

I am super picky when it comes to lotions-- I like very light scents and moisture heavy lotion,  but I hate the greasy feeling. I also have super sensitive skin so I only use scented products on my hands (this is my favorite body lotion). This scent is light and calming so it is perfect for right-before-bed. At $18, it's not too crazy a price, either! Have a fabulous day!

Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History

A few weekends ago, some friends and I went to the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History. It is in Oakland, a neighborhood within the city of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood is home to the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. The museum is practically on Pitt's campus, right across from the iconic Cathedral of Learning.

It's funny, I have lived in Pittsburgh all of my life (except for college), yet have only visited the museum a handful of times. This was a rainy day, so spending the afternoon in the museum was perfect! Fun fact: The Carnegie Museum of Art was the first contemporary art museum in the country-- pretty neat!

There are 2 other Carnegie Museums besides art and natural history. The other two are the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol Museum. I've been to the Science Center about 100 times (ok, slightly exaggerating) but am headed to the Andy Warhol next month to check out the Halston Silver and Suede exhibit (is it normal to be super excited to see Jackie O's iconic pillbox hat?!)!

I absolutely love this painting by Edward Hopper. It is Sailing on Canvas and was done in 1911. Actually, it'd be perfect hanging right above my bed ;)

I really love and appreciate art. I love that there is such variety at CMOA... everything from Cezanne, Renoir, Monet, Pissarro (love),  van Gogh to Pittsburgh's own, Andy Warhol. You really can't get bored... we spent over 5 hours there and still didn't see everything.

The architecture all over the building is a work of art in and of itself.

There are some fun exhibitions for children, too... and sometimes it's fun to act like a child, too... right?

The hall of architecture is incredible. It makes you feel like you have been transported to Europe.

Of course, you can't miss the t-rex!

And, when you're in Oakland, aka college central, you do as the college kids would do, right? Post museum, we hopped across the street to a hole in the wall CMU bar for beer... and chips right from the bag... needless to say, this was most definitely the guys's idea, not ours... but hey, when in Rome, right?

Have you visited the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History? It's a must see if you are in town! My suggestion if you are visiting: go to the museum, post-museum have pickle martinis at Soba (just blocks away in Shadyside) and then have dinner at Girasole (the ravioli is like pillows of heaven and it's BYOB, aka bring your own Veuve...or $8 Mark West Pinot Noir ;) )-- the perfect day! Have a fabulous day!
