A year ago (almost to the day!) I wrote a blog post about the famous Stanley Adventure Quencher tumbler. If you haven't heard about this tumbler, it's truly just an insulated drink tumbler. The 'adventure quencher' model comes in different sizes, and colors, and just recently, they launched a 2.0 version that has some improvements from the original. You'll have to read the original post to see the pros and cons of this tumbler!
The craziest part of these tumblers is that people are collecting all of the colors! People are also re-selling them on sites like eBay for hundreds of dollars. I saw someone on TikTok say that she sold her husband's cup that was a 'popular' color for $400!!!! The original price is only $40! They often sell out within minutes and you have to wait for them to be restocked to purchase. As of writing this, they are fully in stock, here.
As someone who went to school for marketing and PR, I think following the brand's trajectory is fascinating because it has primarily been an outdoor/camping brand and they have now expanded its customer base far beyond competing brands.
I do think they are great tumblers. Are they worth the crazy hype? In my opinion, no. I just don't care enough about an insulated cup to go crazy over it but I will say that I personally prefer this tumbler over any other tumbler that I have ever used and if I couldn't use this tumbler anymore, I would be bummed about it.
They make good gifts, too. I got my husband one for Christmas last year and he loves his and uses it every single day. They are very well constructed. I have used my original tumbler every single day for a year and the only thing showing wear is the silicone ring around the lid, the plastic lid top, and a few very small knicks to the coated stainless steel. Needless to say, it's high quality and very durable.
Anyway, I thought I would post about the original vs. the newest version (called H2.0 Flowstate). There are a few little differences.
The biggest difference that I notice and appreciate between the two is that the H2.0 version is lighter in weight. Not by a ton, but when you are toting around 40 oz. of water, anything lighter is much appreciated. I will say that the original feels ever so slightly better made and I think that is just because of the slight differences in their weight. This cup is kind of like earrings. While a heavier pair of earrings might feel better in quality, you always want lighter-weight earrings! I feel the same here about a travel cup!
The biggest selling point for many will be that the H2.0 has a straw hole that is designed to prevent splashes. I never minded the way the straw was in the old one- I was never looking for something leak-proof. But I will say, there would be a few times I would fill it up to the top and carry it around and it would splash out of the straw area which would be a bit annoying. This new straw feature in H2.0 does a better job of preventing splashes and big spills but it's still in no way leakproof. I do think this new straw hold design will make it a bit harder to clean.
They also say that the handle is more ergonomically designed and honestly, I don't really think there is a noticeable difference other than the two-tone appearance.
Anyway, do I think it's worth purchasing if you already have the original? No. I like my new version and am happy to use it. I appreciate the updates, but I think if you have the old one, there is nothing in the new cup that stands out to me enough to shell out another $40+.
If you are buying one over the other as I know they are selling the original version on Amazon. I would choose the newer one, my biggest reason is the lighter weight of the tumbler!
Do I think these cups are worth the price? Yes. I really feel that I got my money's worth. As I said, I used my tumbler every single day for a year. I traveled with it, carried it in and out of the car a bunch, etc. I think that it has held up wonderfully and is truly a testament to quality design and execution!

Which one keeps ice longer? Just wondering if the Original has better insulating properties. I don't have a Stanley but a few of the RTIC that looks similar because I liked that it was ceramic lined and I could remove the straw and flip the stopper on the lid to make it spill proof to throw in my work bag when my hands are full getting out the door to work.
