Valentines Day Pour Homme

If your like me, you appreciate Valentines for what it's about, but the commercialism of the holiday has ruined the romanticism of it all. So I am not one to go all out for one day out of the year just because it is declared as a day of love. But I do love celebrating just a little! Who can resist pink cupcakes and cute love letters! Here are some things pour homme that I think make Valentines Day extra special without breaking the bank!Southern Tide Skipjack Mini hat $20. I love a guy with a hat in the summer, I love the white version of this hat and for $20, why not? Southern Proper has a similar hat for $25, but for some reason the little blue fist appeals more to me!When all else fails, I turn to Brooks Brothers. They are reliable, you know they have impeccable quality, anything you purchase from them will arrive on time, and your guy of the moment (or let's hope longer!) will be sure to love it. Plus like some brands, Brooks Brothers bow ties are only around $50, which is a pretty good price in my eyes! And for the "fratty" man in your life, the good ol' engraved flask will be sure to please him. You can get the one picture from Things Remembered for just $30.
I'm loving Orvis's watch box. It's perfect. Personalized, check. Quality, check. Tasteful, check. Great price ($50), check. I'm thinking even I'd love one of these.I'm not exactly an advocate of cigar smoking or any type of tobacco use, but some men enjoy a cigar every once and a while, so why not get him a cigar humidor. The one above is from redenvelope and is only $50.I just love this idea of his and her keychains. Put them together and they make a heart. Take them apart and they are bottle openers. Are they trying to tell us something? I think yes. $30.

What are you getting your valentine for the special day? I'd love to hear about it, I'm always looking for new ideas! Have a great day!

Crafty Wednesday!

So, after getting so many compliments on one of these frames that I have in my room, I thought I would share it with you all and tell you how you can have an adorable frame for yourself or friend! (sorry for the bad quality phone pic!)
First I headed to Michaels to buy all the supplies. You'll need:
-Ribbon of your choice
-Paint colors of your choice ( I really like the craft smart brand acrylic craft paint)
- an array of paint brushes
-Shiny lacquer coat if shine is desired (for this particular frame there is not shine to it, however, I think a dark brown with a shiny finish looks really classic to fit with any room)
- Wooden picture frame (there are many shapes and sizes to choose from)

I started off by putting news paper down. Then I picked my paint color and then word color. In this case my paint color was a pretty hot pink with white paint for the letters. I am obsessed with the pink and green ribbon that is above my frame, it has a shimmery/satiny feel that really dresses the frame up. Next, I took a spongey brush and coated the frame with the pink paint several times over. Just make sure you do as many coats as necessary to cover the wood grain. Then I let my frame dry for about 2 hours. Then I added the letters on. This was free hand but you could go about this in so many different ways. They sell paint pens so you could literally just write with paint. I added the letters with think paint brush in plain white acrylic paint (next time I want to use one with a shimmer!). Add the bow with glue and voil-a! I think these can make really great personalized impromptu gifts. I think it would also be a great idea for a little girls birthday party craft. It's an inexpensize way to personalize my dorm room too!

Have a happy Wednesday! Don't forget to enter my bow-tie giveaway which ends Monday 9/28!!
Yours,
sCe
