cCm is officially in college and as of yesterday, a sorority girl! So proud of her! I wanted to share her dorm room because it is super tiny (I didn't think dorms could be any tinier than the ones that I had at JMU) but she still managed to make it look great!

Final Dorm Week Post!

This is the last dorm I have to show off! It comes from the lovely M whom I have had the pleasure of knowing through e-mail because she does not have a blog. She is adorable, and wait until you see her room! Here is what M has to say about her room:

"I wanted my dorm to be totally in my two favorite colors and of course Lilly. I switched dorms and got moved to a single. It is small but works for what I need. One of my favorite parts is the Lilly monogram on the bedspread as well as the Lilly lampshade. I also have a Lilly memo board on my door. Lastly, the Lilly party pompoms finish off the room!"I just love her monogrammed magnetic board and her hot pink pompom!

Pink and Green dorm!

The next space I am sharing is Mallory from Just A Preppy Beach Chic Girl. Her's is an adorable pink and green/Lilly themed apartment. "I looked for pink and green items that were not childish but more with a graphic print. I also love my big "M" that my mom surprised me with last homecoming!

Now I can definitely see why Mallory won Lilly sunglasses from the Lilly contest on facebook! Her room is so adorable with a beach/lilly/pink and green theme. It's the perfect sorority girls room. First Dorm Showcase!

Well, as I promised, I am featuring adorable dorm rooms/apartments this week from bloggers who have been kind enough to share pictures of their space and a little blurb on why they love it! I am starting off with the adorable Melissa from College Belle. When she e-mailed me her pictures, I have to admit, I got a little jealous! Her room is just adorable; full of pink and green cuteness! If you don't follow her, head right on over, you will love her blog! Without further ado, here is what Melissa has to say about her super cute dorm room:
"My dorm is very preppy and the full of pink and green. My room fully embodies a preppy,collegiate look. There are tiny pink and green accents everywhere and a great sense of both my roommate and I. My dorm may be teeny tiny (especially my closet!) but we were able to put our mark on it. We are both preppy and everything in our room reflects that. From our Jackie O magnets on the micro-fridge to the fabulous curtains, we have really made the room look like our own."

I love her Pink and green pillow matched with the pink bedspread!Her closet is small, but she makes the best of the space by adding storage containers and hanging sleves. Does anyone else spot the Jack Rogers at the very top and the cutest pink Longchamp at the bottom!?

I have to love the two posters she has. We definitely have the same taste :) Plus I think the blue lanterns add such a fun touch.She has all of the essential books of a prep!

Yesterday I had my first blogger meet up!! I met with the lovely C in VA! We met for pumpkin spice lattes of course! We have been e-mailing back and forth all summer, and it turns out we both go to the same school. How crazy is that? She is such a nice girl; I felt like we were already great friends! While we were talking I found out about her super cute etsy site with the cutest name: Grayson Saige. Her site has preppy and nautical gifts and accessories and she makes them all herself! Palm Beach Preppy Sand Dollar

How can you not love all of these colorful, fun items?! I think that the Palm Beach Preppy Sand Dollar would be SO perfect to give to to someone with a beach themed room or a house at the beach during Christmas time. I can't wait to have another coffee date with C in VA and learn about her newest creations!

Also, this weekend there is a reason to shop until you drop: all of the labor day sales! I am especially excited for Tucker Blaire's flip-flop sale. They are offering a 20% discount on any flip-flops purchased during Labor Day weekend after entering the discount code "LABORDAY". What a great deal! I am especially lusting over the Nautical flag flip flops. I would love love love to wear them at my lake house and around campus to show off my super cute and comfortable flip flops.

Another awesome thing I need to tell you all about is Michael Buble's new single (released August 24). It's called "Haven't Met You Yet". You can buy it on iTunes for $1.29 (anyone else peeved about the price increase?!) The full album entitled "Crazy Love" is due out October 9! I cannot wait to get the entire album. If it is offered for pre-order, I definnitely be doing that! Is anyone else excited for MB's new album?

"it turned out so right, strangers in the night"

I just couldn't wait any longer to show you all my dorm! It turned out amazing. The room is so much bigger than I imagined and our bathroom is SO nice. I moved in yesterday with the help of my wonderful parents. It was hard work considering I'm on the 3rd floor! Here are some more pictures of my room:

Two Awards and a tag!

I have to say I am one lucky blogger! I two awards and a tag from three lovely ladies! My first award is from Seersucker & Sundresses. Her blog is filled with cheer, and always puts a smile on my face when I read what she has to say.

My second award is from Skinny Bitching. Her blog is so straightforward, and honest, and sometimes so hilarious. I love reading about her and her fabulous life. With this award, I am supposed to list my 5 "addictions".Sorry for my poor "editing" job, but because my blog is G rated, and my grandmother pops in from time to time, I decided to take the "word" out and change it with a new word. See skinny bitching for the real word! Without further adieu, here are my 5 "addictions":
1. French Roast Starbucks Coffee--I am a college student, after all

College Packing Tips Round 2 and a discount code!

So I have been thinking for a few days on how to go about doing my second installment of my college packing tips and I decided it would be best to give you a few tips, that I think are crucial for all college students. Especially tips on things that you would probably not even think about. I also decided that since I am not due to move in to my dorm until August 22, I can't really show you pictures of the clothes- packing process, however, I will try to explain it, and then come that week, I will put pictures up of the process!

This first tip is something that I think is REALLY important. Stock up on small gift items that any girl/hostess would like. I say this because you don't know who you may become friends with, or what kind of party/even you might attend. Having small gifts on hand can be great for giving your new roommate, a girl that you just met's birthday is coming up, or a girl in your sorority is hosting a small dinner get together at her apartment. This shows people that you care, and really can make them feel special when they are so far away from home on a special day. I got a lot of the stuff pictured from Michael's in the dollar baskets, and then I have some hand soap, my favorite mascara, some lip balm, hostess napkins, and fun little gift bags that aren't for a certain occassion.

Here is a picture of little things that you think are obvious, but I forgot them!
-Small sewing kit
- pepper spray
- whistle (sounds funny, but in all seriousness I suggest it)
- book light
- chip clips
- a multi-purpose tool
-stapler/staples
- kleenex cover
- compact hole punch
- lap top travel case

Bring medicine!!! I am a rather healthy person, I work out, eat somewhat healthily, wash my hands, have very good hygiene, and try to get plenty of sleep; however, I got sick my first semester of school about 4 times. No kidding, about once a month I was sick, it was really awful. So I suggest stocking up on:
- Advil
-Dayquil/ Nyquil
-Mucinex
-Pepcid
- Cough drops
-Ecinachea (herbal supplement, known to improve your immune system, I think it works!)
- A daily multivitamin, or something with a large dose of vitamin C
-Claritin OTC
-Loperamide Hydrochloride Tablets (for diarrhea, gross I know, but handy)

The picture to the right really says it all. However, last year, I was unable to use one of these great inventions because our door was a fire safe door which means that you can't put anything in the cracks of the doors and the closet door was too small for something that takes up an entire full-sized door. Check into what door space will be available to you, and get your closet's dimensions like I said in the last post, because you can find a smaller version shoe rack that will fit on a small closet door.

While we are on the shoe subject, bring slippers!!! The floors truly, are gross to me no matter how you scrub them down. Your feet will get dirty from the ground and that is just gross, so get some really cute slippers so your feel are nice and warm and clean! Now for the clothes. I have so much clothing that all of my closets/storage space in my own room at home are bursting at the seams. I actually didn't sleep nights before I left for college because I was so worried about the closet space and how I was going to fit all of my beloved clothes in my dorm with me. Well, it worked. I made it work; you have to though, right? I suggest you get 2 large plastic drawer bins for under your bed. These drawer bins are where I store sweatpants, sweatshirts, undergarments, heavy sweaters, and socks. All of these items take up a large amount of drawer space so that is why I put them under the bed. (the picture to the left is my closet from last year, it was before I discovered even better organizing ways!)

For your chest of drawers, get a roll of cute wrapping paper, and use it to line the drawers. Only fold things that don't wrinkle easily. I also suggest you group the drawers by type of clothing. This meaning that you put your short sleeve "foldables" in one drawer, your long sleeve in another, your lighter sweaters or polos in another drawer.

For your closet where you get to hang things, first hang everything that absolutely must be hung such as a silk dress, or an oxford shirt. Then go for the things that need to be hung, but if necessary can be folded. I like to hang my clothes by color, it makes picking out an outfit much easier

For the bottom of your closet I would put either your shoes all lined up in pairs, or get a pretty basket bin for your dirty laundry.

Hang your Jackets on plastic hooks. I placed my plastic hooks on the inside of my closet door, and on the wall behind the head of my bed, out of sight.

I hope these tips help all of you college students out. Again, I'm no expert, but I really think these tips are tested and true, and I 100% recommend them!
