Tommy Hilfiger: The Ultimate Tailgate

Personally, I have never been a huge fan of Tommy Hilfiger. He has some very nice clothes, and I won't lie and tell you I don't own anything TH. I, in fact, have many TH pieces and love them. However, most of his clothing is very logo oriented. He likes to plaster his logo on anything and everything and I am not a fan of that. I really don't like when any company makes it their priority to draw attention to their logo, and TH is definitely one of the big contenders in this category along with brands such as Tory Burch and Polo (but of course, I still love most of their things).
Well let me tell you, Tommy's latest fall 2010 campaign has caught my eye big time. I know there has been a big buzz about this campaign in the media which is rightfully so, because is is just perfect! The  whole campaign is centered around a fictitious, large, preppy family. There are many beautiful pictures of the "family" tailgating with an accoutrement of plaids,  trenches, sunglasses, and pops of primary colors.
What do you think of the newest Tommy Hilfiger campaign? Have a fabulous day!

Once a prep, always a prep

So in the true preppy fashion, I'd thought I'd post pictures of my family in their preppiest attire...Because we all know: once a preppy, always a preppy.. enjoy!

Like Father, Like son. My grandpa sporting the classic khakis with a pink polo and a blue v-neck Lacoste sweater. My dad with classic boat shoes, khaki shorts, and a tartan RL polo.

Men in polo shirts. My two uncles, and my dad in the pink!

My uncle, dad, and mom in Florida! I wish my mom still had that dress, it would totally be mine now!

This is 3 years ago but my one of my many senior pictures! I am so sad, the bow on this headband came off.. I miss it!
Sister cCm, and dad in D.C.

Me Freshman year of high school. When it was "cool" to wear two polos at once.

cCm and mom outdoor ice skating. cCm was the cutest child ever.
At the country club children's Christmas party...This was before cCm was born!
Mother, aunt, dad, and uncle. Love the polos for golfing! This was most definitely before I was born.

I so wish I could share more with you all, but that's all of the "old" photos we have scanned into our computer. These were of course before we had digital cameras. I encourage you all to do a post of your "old" family photos in your preppy garb!
Have a fabulous day!

It's up to you, New York, New York!

I could not be more excited about an upcoming NYC/Beach trip in late June with my family! Of course the beach is exciting as always, but I absolutely LOVE NYC and I haven't been in about 3 years; it's been too long! Here are several things on my to do list; but I would LOVE dinner suggestions or anything else exciting that you know of. I've been to the statue of liberty and the empire state building and all of usual "touristy spots" many times so I think I'll be sitting those out for this trip..

-Lilly Pulitzer on Madison Avenue (and all of the other stores on Mad)
- Gant.. LOVE their clothing and the only time I ever buy anything is when I'm in the city!
- Louis Vuitton of course.. I want the Speedy30! (and all of the other fabulous stores on 5th &57th)
- The MET, Blaire Waldorf's stomping grounds
- Eloise's residence and a NYC Landmark and home to the Oak Room: The Plaza Hotel
- FAO Schwartz, I'm still a child at heart!
-Grand Central Station-- I've only been once and am dying to see the gorgeous architecture once again!
-Times square-- the last time I was there, I got to hold a giant snake, it was scary but so neat!
- American Museum of Natural History
- Waldorf Astoria-- a NYC icon, can't miss it!

What are your favorite places in NYC? I know cCm and I are just dying to go and cannot wait to be there in a month!

Kate Spade never fails me

When I'm bored (which unfortunately hasn't been happening very often recently) I never sit down and watch T.V.. I usually grab the latest issue of Town and Country, catch up on reading blogs, or my favorite: Online shop. Most of the time it's more like "window shopping" but every once in a while, I spend my very small college budget on something that I just have to have. I usually try to stay away from Kate Spade for as long as I can because they ALWAYS have something that I fall in love with and for weeks, I dream about all the beautiful things KS has. Well, this week I was bored and let go of my self control and headed on over to Katespade.com. Of course I found so many things to tickle my fancy but I just love these two beauties:I can't help but be in love with this necklace for two reasons. The first is pearls. I just love them and can't seem to get enough. I love the double strand and the single strand in the back. The second reason I love this necklace so much is because there are two little gold bows. I used to be a strictly silver girl. I stuck to Tiffany's and not much else. Well, recently I've opened up my taste to gold and I can't get enough. It doesn't help the fact that the bows are just adorable as well! This little beauty can be yours for $145.I am obsessed with the Kate Spade and Lenox collaboration entitled "Sag Harbor". Now of course this would be a very silly thing for me to purchase considering I don't have a home to myself, but if I did, 8 of these plates would be in my shopping cart. I think they would be absolutely perfect for outdoor dining whether at the beach or lake. I love the clean nautical vibe that the whole Sag Harbor line gives off.
The navy is my favorite! the polk-a-dots are so cute!

Do you fall in love with all things Kate Spade when you check out the website? I'm headed to Northern Virginia this weekend for a sorority function and my sisters and I are stopping at some outlets which I'm super excited about. Rumor has it, there is a Kate Spade! Have a fabulous day!

NY Times Interview!

Happy Friday everyone! I have some exciting news. Yesterday I got contacted by a reporter from the New York Times to interview me about Lisa Birnbach's upcoming book True Prep which is following in The Preppy Handbook's footsteps and about the preppy lifestyle. It was so exciting to be interviewed by such a well respected publication, hopefully I will be quoted in the article that is coming out in the near future!! Have a fabulous weekend!

It's 5 O'Clock somwehere!

Today marks the start of my spring break!!! I am sad to say I am not going somewhere warm, but I do hope to hit the slopes sometime this week; it has been too long! So for all of you heading somewhere tropical, tell me all about it so I can live vicariously through you! For those of you in the same boat as me, try making yourself one of my favorite drink recipes! It's called a Malibu Bay Breeze (not to be confused with a bay breeze which uses vodka instead of rum).

1 1/2 oz Malibu Rum
2 oz Cranberry Juice
2 oz Pineapple Juice

It's fruity and tropical! You can even cut up some pineapple chunks and put them on a skewer to add to the fun! Then put a little Bob Marley on and your set for your own little spring break! Have a great weekend!

Canvas

I just recently ordered a few things from Lands End (I love what I purchased and can't wait to show them off in an outfit of the day post!), and while browsing through the website, I noticed a new tab. It looks like Lands End has a new line called "Canvas". Well I just had to click, and I am so pleased I did! Their new line is fabulous. It's casual and classic staples with a little bit of a modern twist. It reminds me somewhat of J.Crew/Madewell or JC Penney's line American Living. I cannot wait to order some things from this line; hopefully it will not disappoint! Here are a few of my faves:
LOVE this dress. It almost looks like something from J.Crew and for a fraction of the cost! This yellow hue is sure to brighten even the dreariest day! For $79.50 you just can't be that price!

I definitely suggest checking out Canvas. I promise you will not be disappointed! Have a fabulous day!

Eye Candy: Tibi Dresses

By now I'm sure you've realized that I took a week's vacation from blogging. I have been super busy with my sorority duties, and my schoolwork so to keep myself from having a little break down, I decided I would take a "vacation" from blogging! I hope you all didn't miss me too much! I also MUST share with you these fabulous dresses from Tibi.. when I did come across down time this week, I was drooling over all of these fabulous dresses which would be perfect for a Valentines Day dinner!Beaded One-shoulder Dress
Sometimes the one shoulder dress can look tacky or too trendy, but Tibi makes the one shoulder cut look fabulous and classy!
Lace Shift Dress
I love the classic shift cut of this dress, but I also love the not too shiny metallic look. It's often hard to find a metallic dress that is not tacky or too gaudy.
Pleated Scoopneck Dress
I am LOVING this shade of pink. I also love that you can get away wearing this color during the winter because the fabric is appropriate for the season.Ragtime Gem Dress
Love love love this one! I usually don't like orange all by itself but this dress is just fabulous. I am in love with the circle back and the flattering cut of this tunic. This could definitely be dressed up or dressed down for any occassion.
Bora Bora Silk Dress
I love the royal blue detailing on this dress. It adds an almost nautical feel to the dress. Although this is a summertime only dress, I still think it would be a show stopper for any summertime occassion!

I hope you enjoyed the fabulous dresses, and have a great monday!

I absolutely love all kinds of jewelry. Although I do admit most of the time, I stick to the classic pearls and david yurman or monogrammed silver but from time to time I like to try out trendy or different jewelry. When I do look for neat jewelry, I keep in mind the colors in my wardrobe that I wear most. I have many bookmarked jewelry sites and frequent each to see if they have something that will catch my eye (because I do admit I'm a bit picky!). I found this great pair of earrings from charm and chain called "Big Flower Earrings" I think they are so adorable and have neutral colors that will dress up any outfit!
I just love the gold and pearl detail in the middle. Best of all they are handmade!

I also have had my eye on this Charriol Wrap Bangle from Nordstrom. My big sister in my sorority first introduced me to the brand and I think their pieces are gorgeous and unique. The cable design is somewhat reminiscent of Yurman but I actually think i find I like most Charriol pieces more than I like DY pieces. Have you ever heard of this brand?

This weekend I had the pleasure of ordering a Tervis Tumbler. My family has several of these great tumblers at home with mallard ducks on them and seeing that I just broke my favorite mug I saw it fit to get one I knew was great quality. I got the 16 0z. personalized one with a hot pink circle monogram and a pink travel lid to compliment it! I am so excited to get the package in the mail. I also think that it is the PERFECT gift for a college student seeing as it holds all forms of caffeine (hot and cold!) and it is microwaveable and dishwasher safe. With shipping I got the lid and tumbler for $26. I can't wait to take a picture to show you all!
I am also still taking questions for a blog post that is in the works for next week so keep asking away! I am loving all of these creative questions. And for all of my readers that don't have a blog, feel free to e-mail me at Summerwind41490@gmail.com I just love hearing from all of you! Have a fabulous day!

Grayson Saige!

Blogging has been such a blessing. I have met so many incredible people through this and get inspired every day by each and every one of you. I have mentioned that I have met a great friend C, who goes to the same university that I go to! We catch up from time to time and have e-mailed back and forth for a while. She is such a great girl, and she has the cutest little online boutique called Grayson Saige. She also sends out monthly newsletters through e-mail which I am happy to say I receive. If you want to receive her e-mails, e-mail her at graysonsaige@gmail.com and she also has a twitter found here. One of my favorites of hers is her Polka Dot Crayfish:
I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Happy Weekend!

I am proud to announce I have survived the first week of classes! I have a love/hate relationship with the first week of classes because on one hand, there is not much homework and a lot of free time, but also it is stressful trying to get yourself organized for the semester and since the teachers don't teach much the first week, classes can be a real bore! I am so excited to start up the outfits of the day occasionally. I haven't worn many of my Christmas gifts, I've been saving them for their big debut in my classes, so I'm excited to share with you all of the fun new things that I love! Here is my outfit of the day:
Top: J. Crew babydoll tissue tee, L.L. Bean Saturday Corduroy Pants (straight fit), driving mocs: Ugg, necklace: David Yurman
I got the Saturday pants for Christmas, and lucky for all of you, they are now 25% off! I really love these pants, they are very nice quality and the PERFECT length (which I think is VERY hard to find!). In my opinion I would be very surprised if something from L.L. Bean wasn't good quality! You can't tell in the picture but there are adorable embroidered mallard ducks all over the pants; it's a nice added touch! The only issue with these pants is that unless I am tucking my shirt into pants, I generally like a littler lower of a waist on casual pants, but these have somewhat of a higher waist than j.crew cords.
Here in Virginia, we have been in the low 50's which is such a nice change from the snowy cold I had at home in Pittsburgh so it should be a lovely weekend. I hope you all are having better weather as well. I also wanted to extend an invitation for all of my readers to do another question an answer post with me. I did this several months ago (I think it was back in June!) and I loved all of the questions you asked. Feel free to post any question on this post or e-mail me with your questions at Summerwind41490@gmail.com. I love hearing from you! Have a fabulous weekend!

sCe

Adorable Actress!

As a result of being an unemployed college student on a month long winter break at home, I've had the pleasure of catching up on everything from my friends, books, TV shows (the good, the bad AND the ugly--oh yes, I've seen Jersey Shore and yes, it was without a doubt a waste of 30 minutes) shopping and working out! Well, I don't know where I've been but a while ago I read many bloggers posting about the series Mad Men on AMC. I had never watched an episode when reading about it, and I eventually put it in the back of my mind and never thought a thing about it. Then, bRc and I were sitting around with extra time on our hands (life is tough as a college kid, right?!) and we saw that Mad Men was OnDemand, so we started watching and now I can't stop. It is a really well put together show. I have found an amazing respect for January Jones role as Betty Draper; she plays the part to a T, not to mention a very stylish one! Have you ever seen Mad Men? Are you hooked? Over spring break, when I have more "unemployed, college break time" on my hands, I plan on catching up on all of the series, I sure will miss it until then.
Have a fabulous Weekend!

sCe

Winter Song

I'm way behind with this song, but I just heard it by recommendation from a friend and I am in love with it! It is called "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. It's a beautiful song, and I love that it is for winter so it is the perfect time to be enjoying this song!
