Wardrobe Staple: Pima Cotton Turtleneck Under $20 And T-Shirt Under $0

Regularly $25 and now on sale for just $17.49  with code VIP (through 10/3)

This is kind of a boring post considering it's about a plain, cotton Turtleneck BUT it is a wardrobe staple for me in the fall and winter seasons and this particular Turtleneck is one I stumbled upon last year and I think it's an incredible find. I've also been getting requests to share some of my favorite basics!

Right now, it's on sale for $17.49 with code VIP. The sale goes through October 3rd. Even at $25 full price, I still think that's a great deal. It's offered in many neutral colors. I have black, white, navy, and burgundy. What I love about this Turtleneck is that it has a classic fit. It's not too tight but also not too loose. The neck does not 'grow' and become saggy as you wear it, it stays in place, but the neck is also not super tight. It's 100% Pima cotton (you know the very soft kind of cotton) and nicely made. It's not tissue- thin but it's plenty light enough for layering.

I often size up in something 100% cotton but for some reason, I didn't in this turtleneck and I'm glad I didn't. It doesn't shrink much, if at all so the size small fits perfectly on me!

I love turtlenecks. I think they're such a nice layering piece to have when the temps take a dip. I think layering a turtleneck under a button down is my favorite way to style it. It gives that 80s preppy look and I am so here for it!

I also think a black turtleneck and black pants work so well as a 'base' outfit in the winter. Then I usually top with a sweater, cardigan, vest, cape, etc.

oliphant CINCHED PINTUCK MAXI- FLORENCE PETAL
Sweater Jacket// Dress (use code SYDNEY15 for 15% off)

How is everyone's week going so far? It has been downright chilly here in Pittsburgh! Part of me loves it because I am able to wear all of my new and old favorite fall things! I even pulled my boots out this week!

Speaking of weather, I've been praying and thinking of you all in Florida and the other areas in hurricane Ian's path. My husband's aunt and uncle live on the western coast, unfortuantely right where the hurricane hit. We are supposed to go visit in December. I am praying for continued safety for the first responders, linemen, rescuers, medical staff, and good samaritans, and also for renewed strength for everyone to come together and rebuild.

This week has been very average/normal. I actually was called for jury duty yesterday. I ended up going in for 2 hours. I have never done jury duty and so I walked in, sat down in a room with a lot of people, and literally just sat there for two hours. Someone finally came into the room and said our service was done because they had no cases for us and we were dismissed! So I definitely did not get the whole jury duty experience!

Update on Henry from last week: Hia stomach has been fine which is so great. I talked to our vet and they told me I didn't need to bring him in if he stopped having stomach issues. He definitely could have eaten something weird or just had a little but but he has been licking his paws a ton lately. The vet said that fall allergies are really had here in Pittsburgh right now and not to worry as long as he is not licking his paws raw. They told me I could give him benadryl, which I've done in the past so I've been doing that sparingly as needed. He has his yearly vet appointment scheduled less than 2 weeks away so I feel good that he will be seen soon just to double check that he is fine! He seems 100% fine/normal so that makes me feel good!

Q4 is about to begin and that's always the busiest season for me as a content creator/influencer. I live for this time period because it's SO fun and there is always so much to share!

Wearing: We went out to dinner last night and this is what I wore (photo at top of post)! Like I said, it is chilly here so I broke out my tall suede boots that I got last year and this new cardigan and dress. One thing I love about dresses like this is that you can literally wear this type of long dress with leggings underneath if you live in a cooler climate and no one would ever know! Also, I got this sweater jacket in camel last year and loved it so much. It is SO soft and cozy but is a little more structured than your average cardigan so I think it has a polished look! Oliphant is a new-to-me brand and I love this dress that they sent me. They gave me a code to share with you all where you can use code SYDNEY15 for 15% off. I am wearing a small in the dress and would say it runs true to size. I am 5'6" for length reference!

Eating: I got to try out the viral mini croissant cereal because I got a box in a PR package and omg it was SO good!

Sale: Lots of men's Smathers and Branson needlepoint belts on sale, some even under $100! I got my husband one to save and give him for Christmas and my momt got one for my dad. They love these belts!

j.crew new arrivals october 2022
Loving: J.Crew just launched some new arrivals and I'm loving them! They are offering 30% off select full-priced items with code SHOPNOW.
Wanting: It started to get cold here and I don't know how but I forgot what the cold was like! I love this temperature where you have to wear a heavy pullover. I saw this fleece jacket and I just love the print on it!!

Amazon Rec: Did you catch my Amazon finds post from Monday? I rounded up 20 finds that I have and love, including this sweater I have been wearing non-stop! You can find more of my Amazon favorites, here!

Traveling: My next trip is off to the Inns of Aurora with my mom! It's a work trip for a fun project I'm working on that I will be sharing in later October and early November so stay tuned! I feel so truly lucky that I can bring my mom on things like this. I've said this before but I love my mom so much and I feel so thankful that she is able to be a part of my job. I'm also so thankful for her because the amount she helps me with my job is unbelievable. She is so selfless and my biggest cheerleader. I couldn't do all of this without her!

What I Love About Fall

In honor of the fall season, I thought I would share with you all some things that I love about fall. Fall is my favorite season. I love the temperatures and in Pittsburgh, it seems like we get a lot more sun than what is typical. Besides the weather, there are so many other reasons that my love for this season runs deep!

Sometimes I don't feel 'festive' for a season and so making a list like this reminds me how to enjoy the season we are in and really savor it!

I'd love for you to share your favorite things about the fall season in the comments. It's so fun to read what people find wonderful about the season!

A Weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina

This past weekend my husband and I headed to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit my sister and brother-in-law! I love visiting them and love Charlotte. It is such a pretty area with so many great bars and restaurants and I love looking at all of the beautiful homes. I swear everyone is dressed so well!

We started off the evening hanging out at their house snacking on the most beautiful meat and cheese plate from The Culture Shop and enjoying a glass of wine or two.

Necklace (on sale!)// Shoes
Handbag (Kate Middleton is also a fan of this brand!)

I wore this gorgeous cashmere sweater and faux leather skirt that the new-to-me brand, Cartolina Nantucket sent me! The brand was founded in Nantucket and is female-owned and operated. The pieces are sewn by hand right here in the USA in Los Angeles in small batches.

The cashmere sweater is nice and lofty and cut in a classic crewneck style. I am wearing a size XS so I would suggest sizing down. There are a few cashmere colors to choose from. In the skirt, I sized up to a medium. The skirt is very stretchy so you don't really need to worry about the fit through the waist and hips but I sized up hoping that the length would be right on me and it was just perfect!

Carolina Nantucket was generous enough to provide me with a code to share with all of you. You can take $50 off of your purchase using code SYDNEY50!

We headed out for drinks and dinner at Supperland which is a newer restaurant in Charlotte specializing in upscale southern comfort food with things on the menu like Corn Salad, Chicken, Pot Roast, etc. They also had an extensive cocktail list with really unique and inventive mixtures. This restaurant just got a huge accolade from Bon Appetit Magazine as one of the top 10 best new restaurants in the entire country!

The next morning, we grabbed a coffee and breakfast sandwich and then headed over to Quail Hollow Club for the President's Cup which is a golf tournament.

The weather for the day could not have been better. It started off cool in the morning and then warmed up in the afternoon but never got sweltering. Nothing but blue skies and sun! It was all so well done, I loved the people watching for outfit inspo! They had so many great food stands and lots of drinks and cocktail options. All-in-all it was such a great day!

I wore this Dress. I've had it for a few years now. It's my go-to for this time of year because the color says 'fall' and can be styled in many different ways. Also, if you are on the fence about these white Tennis Shoes, this is your sign to get them. I got them back in March and have worn them SO much it's crazy. They are unbelievably comfortable and I love that they have a slim profile to them which makes them look dressier/daintier, in my opinion. Also, this Red Bag was the perfect thing to wear because they had a small bag policy!

After the tournament, we were off to Optimist Hall, which is a really cool food hall with tons of different vendors. I have been a few times now and love it there! They have an adorable little dog shop there and I am always sure to grab something to bring home to Henry!

The next morning we grabbed some more coffee and breakfast sandwiches and then we headed back to Pittsburgh. It was such a fun and enjoyable weekend and always so nice to be with my sister and brother-in-law!

Amazon Finds

Amazon Finds

I'm doing a big Amazon roundup today because I have found so many great things lately! Here are a few items I wanted to highlight...

Cotton Sweater// I think this is one of the best pieces of clothing from Amazon's brands. Someone recommended this sweater to me as an excellent basic that is high quality and I am SO glad I ordered it. It is affordable, comes in a bunch of neutral color options, and is nicely made. I think it's such a good closet essential and I love that it is 100% cotton! I sized up to a medium for a more 'oversized' look but I think it runs true to size.

Sports Bra// I LOVE this sports bra. I buy two sizes. I wear the size small for high-intensity workouts and the medium found lounging around. I do think it runs a touch big, especially if you want to take the padding out (which I do). This bra is the same quality as Lululemon and I cannot bring myself to pay lulu prices when this bra is available for much less!

Bra// I just ordered myself another one of these bras. This is the best everyday nude bra I have ever owned. It's lightly padded and SO comfortable. I truly do not understand how it is so comfortable. I go down a size in the band and up a size in the cup as I find the cup runs small and the band runs big.

Conditioner// This is one of my favorite conditioners as it is so hydrating. It's expensive- $50 usually for the big bottle. I found it on Amazon for much less!!

Poppi// These drinks are my newest love. I tried all of the flavors and Strawberry Lemon is my favorite. I don't really care for any of the other flavors. They are a carbonated flavored drink and it is just such a treat but low on sugar!

Manicure Duo// Love this to keep my nails neat when in between manicures. Really great quality.

Hair Brush// I got this brush to toss in my handbag as it's small. It's pricey but I just cannot go back to a drugstore brush anymore. These are the very best.

Balsamic Vinegar// I bought balsamic vinegar in the Rome airport duty-free section. It was only $17ish and I flew it all of the way back to the US with me. Well, during our layover, TSA took it!! I was SO mad!!! It is over double the price in the US but I bought it anyway because once you try this, you will understand. All you need as a salad dressing is this and olive oil with some salt and pepper and it is DIVINE. Truly some of the best balsamic ever and the price, at least to me, is crazy but I'm willing to pay that price because it's that good.

Caudalie Shower Gel// I love this scent so much. I used to wear the body spray in 2012 and kind of forgot about it until just now! I didn't realize that they had body wash still so I snagged some. It's not all that $$ either!

Dog Wipes// I just re-purchased these dog wipes. I did so much research and these are not only good for the environment but they're good for your pup with natural and nourishing ingredients. They are all I will use now. People always ask how I keep my home clean with a dog, and it's not always clean but I try to wipe Henry's paws with these wipes often!

Card Reader// This is a dongle that you can put your SD card into and then plug into your phone and you can quickly transfer images from your camera to your phone.

Socks// I love these socks. I have the no-show version and just decided to get the sport version for my workouts and walks. These are so nice. I'm a Costco person when it comes to socks because you can get a big pack for like $10. These are more expensive but worth it to me, especially for workouts like Orange Theory where it is high impact. These are nice and cushioned without being bulky!

Fanny Pack// This fanny pack is so nice. Much nicer than the Lulu one, in my opinion. I'm not fully on board with the whole fanny pack thing but my husband carried this as a crossbody on our trip last month and it's good-looking. It's more structured and just looked more polished than the Lulu one. It holds quite a bit and is not very heavy, plus if you spill something on it, you can just wipe it off.

Face Cleansing Cloths// I've been using these for a solid 5 years. I don't know what I would do if these ever became discontinued. They are the very best and I've never even considered using a different product. They are individual dry cloths. Once you wet them, they foam up so you can wash your face. I use them to remove my makeup and they remove every last trace of makeup and they cleanse so you don't have to cleanse after removing your makeup. It's just all in one step. Traveling with them is so nice and easy because you don't have to worry about them drying out like other makeup wipes.

Glycolic Acid Pads// I've purchased these so many times and I just had to repurchase again because I ran out. I've been wanting to try out 'skin cycling'- a skincare routine I saw on TikTok (look it up, it's slightly hard to explain) and part of the routine is glycolic acid so I needed to get some more of these pads!

Neck Pillow// I traveled with this neck pillow last month and I loved it. It's pricey for a neck pillow and I was hesitant to spend that much on a neck pillow when there are other options out there for half of the price. Well, I am so glad I splurged on this because it is the best travel neck pillow I have ever used. It balls up into a small pouch and the way you can velcro it around your neck makes it so much sturdier and more comfortable for sleep.

Crease Release// I love this crease release for travel. I often travel with my steamer but sometimes I just don't feel like it or don't have the room and this stuff does the trick. You just spray it on and then I take my hands and 'iron' the garment out with my hands. It doesn't work miracles but it works well enough.

Cotton Sweater// This is another good Amazon cotton sweater find!! Inexpensive and just a good classic basic. This one has a more cropped fit than the sweater I shared at the top of this list. It runs true to size.

Dual Voltage Travel Hair Dryer// This hair dryer is so lightweight and I cannot get over how powerful it is!!! So much easier to travel with because of how small it is and how lightweight. My hair usually doesn't work with travel dryers because they are not powerful enough to dry my hair in a decent period but this really dries my hair so fast. It's honestly shocking how well it works.

Navy Spinner Luggage// I just got this after getting rid of my old checked luggage bag after it got damaged. The quality of this is incredible. It's about $100 less than Away luggage and I'm really impressed!

Chip Clips// This is probably the most random and boring on the list, but we needed chip clips and I thought this set was so pretty, ha!

Lately

Hope you are all having a great week so far! This past weekend, we watched my parent's dog, Buddy, which was fun! We also attended a welcome back to Pittsburgh party for friends and a birthday celebration for another friend so we were quite busy all weekend!

This week felt really normal and basic in the best way. I had taken an unplanned hiatus from Orange Theory for almost 2 months. I went to the lake for 3 weeks in July and into early August. Then, I had two weeks at home before our Europe trip but had broken my toe so I wanted to take it easy to it would be totally fine on our trip. It was just my pinky toe and not a big deal at all but oh my gosh it HURT!! It was fine after a week and I probably could have worked out but didn't want to take the chance! Anyway, September marks my 3rd year doing Orange Theory, and these past two months are the only break I have taken. Otherwise, I've gone weekly since September 2019. It's probably the longest I have ever stuck with a workout. Being away from it for 2 months was honestly a nice reset and I don't regret it at all. However, my first class back felt SO GOOD. I no longer work out for the health benefits or physical benefits, don't get me wrong, those are definitely icing on the cake but the only true reason I have kept up with it for so long is truly for the mental health aspect. It quells my anxiety, clears my mind, and helps me to see the bigger picture. I sleep better, I feel better, I act better. It's one of the best things I have ever committed myself to!
A bump in the road this week is that Henry got sick in the middle of the night on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday evening! Both times on our bed so I've been doing a lot of laundry. I felt so bad for him. I always get so worried whenever there is even anything remotely wrong with Henry. I'm hoping he is fine. Other than him actually getting sick, he's acting completely normal- playing, going on walks, and eating and drinking per usual. I think it could just be a minor stomach bug or some sort of allergies but I'm keeping a close watch on him- I might try to get him into his vet today just to be safe.  I'm a worry wart when it comes to things like this.

This weekend we are visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Charlotte! I am so excited! I haven't been to Charlotte since March since Callie came home so many times this year. We are going to a fun dinner and also a golf outing so our weekend will be pretty full!
Wearing: I absolutely love this vest!!! Such a classic fall piece but the color is what really sold me. It's so beautiful- it's like a spiced brown. It's rich and creamy but also light at the same time. The photo doesn't do the color justice! I'm wearing a size small, it runs true to size!

Eating: We got this frozen pizza from Costco. When we were there, a couple was in the same aisle and saw us looking at pizzas and they came over and recommended this. They did not steer us wrong. This is one of the better frozen pizzas I have ever had. The brand is Motor City Pizza Co.
Drinking: I am obsessed with the strawberry lemon Poppi drink. I bought all of the other flavors that my Target had to try them out. The only one I haven't tried yet is the orange. I've now tried all of the other ones and I thought watermelon was OK but I didn't love the cherry limeade or the raspberry rosé. I think I'll just continue with what I love- the strawberry lemon and try the orange and go from there!

Watching: We started watching Devil In Ohio on Netflix. It's dark/suspensful but also gives me Lifetime vibes. It's good enough that we will keep watching but it's nothing incredible. We haven't really been watching TV much lately- we just haven't had the time!

Listening: I've had this 'Autumn Jazz' playlist going nonstop. It's so nice to have it in the background as I work or when we cook dinner. It's calming and so easy to enjoy!

Loving: Anthropologie put out a preview of their holiday stuff and while I totally think it's too early, that doesn't stop me from looking at it and being so excited!!!

Loving II: I want ALL of the Talbots new arrivals! Wow, this might be one of my favorite collections from Talbots ever. Everything is so polished and classic and just beautiful!

Cream Bronzer Stick I got the shade clay
Loving III: I recently tried this bronzer stick and have been loving it. The color is beautiful and just warms my face up nicely but what I love the most is that it glides onto my skin like no other and the product just melts into my skin making it so easy to blend out for a super natural look.
Wanting: I love everything I have been seeing from some of my favorite brands lately. I think there's a ton of trendy stuff out right now that you have to weed through but there are tons of gems worth hunting for!
Amazon Rec: I just got this sweater based on a recommendation from one of you! It's 100% cotton and super affordable. I am shocked how nice it is for how low the price is. It's a classic silhouette in neutral colors. I sized up to a medium and am glad I did because the medium is nice and roomy and has a more casual fit to it. If you want a more polished fit, I'd suggest getting your true size! You can find more of my Amazon favorites, here!

Smelling: Isn't this candle adorable?! It was only $5!! I think it would make such a cute little gift. I love that the glass is translucent so that the candle really glows. The scent is 'pumpkin woods' and it's like a cross between the spices from a pumpkin and a log burning fire. It's not sweet and just smells so cozy.

Quoting: 'If you don't want to burn out, stop living like you're on fire.' - Brene Brown// See more of my favorites, here.

Christmas Card 2022 Choices

The other day I heard someone use the phrase 'done by December 1'. I loved hearing this cute saying because it labeled what I have always been saying. I love the holiday season and all that comes with it- even all of the craziness that can happen!

Throughout my adult life, I have found that if I let myself be distracted by shopping for gifts, sending out holiday cards, wrapping gifts, etc. I kind of miss out on some of that joy and excitement. I don't actually dislike doing any of those things but they are distracting. Completing some of these tasks or at least getting as much done as possible before December gives me room to celebrate, be with friends and family, and gives my mind the space to really savor the most wonderful time of the year!

All that to say, I've already picked out my Christmas card! I am getting them from Dogwood Hill which I've done for several years now. They have many incredible designs from classic to whimsical to festive. There are so many good ones that I find that I can get overwhelmed and spend days thinking about which design I should choose!

This year, I set a time limit. I gave myself 30 minutes to look over the 2022 holiday cards and narrow them down. Once I narrowed it down, I put our photo into the photo area to help me further narrow it down. Then, I went to my husband so he could help me pick a winner!

You can see my favorites in the collage above. I picked one out of those eight. I was going for red and green this year. We did blue last year so I wanted to go more traditional Christmas this year! I reviewed the cards we had sent out in past years to make sure I wasn't doing something identical to a past year!

2021

2020

2019
I love sending out cards each year because it's such a good tradition. It's something our parents and grandparents have been doing and I'm so happy to carry on such a tradition. I think sometimes the art of physically mailing something is lost in this day in age but the holiday season is the perfect time to do so!

I save every card that I get and put them in ziplock bags with the year written on them. My mom has always saved holiday cards from each year and now, it's SO fun to look back at some cards from 20+ years ago!

I have a post from last year that delves into more holiday card tips and outfit ideas so be sure to check that out!

How To Style A Cape

Casual with Jeans

Dressed Up for Date Night
Chanel Bag// Hermes Scarf

Elegant and Simple Monochromatic
Navy Hair Bow (not shown)

I love love love caps and have been known to wear them each fall. It's a piece of clothing that can be so unique and elegant and timeless all at the same time.

I thought I would share three different ways to style a cape from casual to dressy. This beautiful Cape
that I am styling is from Marta Scarampi which is a brand out of Italy. They sent me their Giulia cape and it's just such a beautiful, ladylike piece of clothing.

It's made of boiled wool which gives it such a lovely, luxurious texture but it's still decently lightweight and yet somehow nice and warm! It's a true piece of quality that I know will be in my closet for many years to come.

This Cape is one that I got last year from Stacie Flinner's collaboration with Marta Scarampi and I wore it SO much. It's the same style and fabric as you see in the cream cape at the top of this post!

Shopbop Sale!

Shopbop is having their Style Event, their big sale that they do each year around this time.

15% off $200+
20% off $500+
25% off $800+

Use promo code STYLE at checkout. Runs today September 19th through 22nd. Some exclusions apply- times that qualify for this sale are marked as 'style event'.

Some Items of Note...
White and Warren makes high-quality cashmere pieces. The cashmere travel wrap is something I would highly recommend. I feel like a broken record when I talk about their travel wraps but they are truly some of the most worn items in my closet. I have navy, cream, black, and gray. I'd say I get most wear out of the navy and black out of those 4 neutrals. I wear them as a scarf with a coat in the winter, as a wrap for a black tie event, as a blanket on a flight, and more. They are pricey, no doubt, but the quality is second to none. I have had mine for years and they have held up so well. I actually flew to Italy with the navy wrap and ended up washing it in my machine when I got home and it was good as new (it says you're supposed to dry clean but I used my laundress and washed it by itself and all was perfect). I bought my mom one of these wraps for her birthday one year and she agrees it is one of the best things in her closet. These go on sale whether at Saks or Tuckernuck or Shopbop so I never pay full price!

I love that Ferragamo is always included in this sale. I have so many pairs of their classic varas and varinas. A timeless shoe silhouette that never goes out of style. These tortoise varas are currently on my wish list! They are impeccably made and I find the varas to be the most comfortable!

Some Items I Have My Eye On...
Other Brands I Love Worth The Browse...
- Frame (high-quality denim)
- Alex Mill (classic basics with preppy touches at reasonable prices)
- Roller Rabbit (adorable pima cotton pajamas)
- Castaner (the best classic espadrille wedges)
- Vince (pricey cashmere pieces that are worth the splurge)
- Staud (pretty, decently affordable dresses)
- Kule (classic stripes sometimes with a twist)
- Celia B (fun, colorful dresses)
- Tory Sport (preppy athletic gear)

One thing I loved about Italy on our recent trip was the idea of 'aperitivo' which is basically a pre-dinner cocktail but I noticed our drinks were always served with little bowls of snacks. Things like chips, nuts, prosciutto, etc. They were often served in the prettiest bowls or came out on a little tray. It was always such a nice touch and sometimes we were very hungry so it kept me from becoming hangry before our late dinner reservations, ha!

My husband and I loved it so much we have started to do this at home! Whether we are headed out for the night or just having a night in, our favorite thing is to have a cocktail and a few little snacks that are presented beautifully.

For our latest aperitivo, we had a glass of prosecco and then several items that I got with my Walmart grocery delivery that I was able to order online. I got Great Value chipsnuts, olives, prosciutto, and then a baguette from Marketside

Ordering my groceries online from Walmart makes things so quick and easy. Walmart offers great quality groceries and household items that we rely on daily and I can always count on the everyday low prices! I love Walmart's private brands which include Great ValueMarketside, Sam’s Choice, and Freshness Guaranteed

New customers can use promo code TRIPLE10 to save $10 off their first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 minimum, restrictions & fees apply.

For this particular night, we were staying in so we enjoyed our drink and snacks and then later cooked dinner together! It's a fun little way to make every day more fun and beautiful and the snacks were delicious!

More items I order regularly and would recommend from Walmart's Private Brands:
