You all loved Callie's gift guide, so today, I'm sharing a gift guide curated by my mom! My mom is 65, and her taste is similar to mine in many ways. She worked in banking before she had children. Then, once she had kids, she was a stay-at-home mom. Around when my sister was in college, my mom went back to work in banking and recently retired a few years ago! She is a wonderful woman who does not like a lot of 'stuff' and never really wants anything. She just loves her family and is happiest when we can do things to all be together! She is kind, thoughtful, and always there for my sister and me. She enjoys traveling and entertaining and loves her pup, Buddy. She loves to walk, is in a bowling league with my dad and friends, and skis even though she does *not* like to be cold. She is a great cook, is on our club's membership committee, loves to dance and attend parties and events, and is overall just a very vivacious woman. She is gracious and empathetic but also knows how to stand firm in who she is and her beliefs. I admire her so much for this! She is the one who introduced me to my love of Taco Bell (she loves the Mexican Pizza).
Even though she never wants anything, she does love to shop with me and learn about new makeup/skincare and all of that- she is girly! We share our wardrobes, but unfortunately, we are not the same shoe size!! I had her round up things that she has and absolutely loves or loves to gift, and today, I am sharing that all with you!
Concealer// I turned my mom onto this concealer. We like some of the same makeup, but not all of the same because my mom says her 'older' skin sometimes needs something different than what I use. I love this because it is SO hydrating, and you control the coverage. It's so creamy and easy to blend. It is easily one of the best concealers I have ever used!
Lip Gloss// This is my mom's favorite gloss. She loves the colors and shine. It has a slight plumping effect.
Card Case// My mom said she likes to give these little card cases as gifts because she uses one herself and loves it. She has a larger wallet but loves this little card case for smaller handbags. She loves the red the best because it is easy to find inside of a bag!
Sapphire and Diamond Earrings// My mom said, 'put any beautiful jewelry on the list' as she always loves jewelry!
Perfume// This is my mom's signature scent. She loves it so much, and whenever I smell it, I think of her. It's very musky/palo santo-ish! It's pricey, but it's strong- you really only need one spritz, so a bottle lasts forever.
Hair Brush// My mom likes this brush better than the Wet Brus because it doesn't lose bristles like the West Brush sometimes does!
Wireless Ear Buds// This is another thing I turned my mom onto! I got both my dad and mom a pair of these wireless earbuds. They are less costly than the Apple brand and work well. The sound is so clear and crisp, and they hold a charge for a long time!
Blue Pan// My husband and I got my parents this a few years ago, and they still rave about it. It's a non-stick skillet you can use for many different things like steaming, braising, boiling, searing, baking, etc. It's so high quality and is genuinely non-stick. It's ceramic coated, so it is not toxic.
Shearling Slippers// My mom and I both have these and we love them! They are so high quality and cozy. They are every bit as lovely as Ugg and cost less!
Lay Flat Cosmetic Bag// My mom raves about this bag because you can travel with your makeup, and then when you arrive at your destination and open the pouch, you can see all of your makeup. This is an excellent gift for someone who travels or is into beauty products!
Serum// My mom and I both love this anti-aging serum. You can use code SYDNEY20 for 20% off. This is a newer-to-me brand; we have been loving it because it is effective but hydrating.
Cashmere Wrap// This is another thing that we both love. It's such a high-quality wrap, and it is HUGE! We love to use it on flights as a blanket, as a scarf in the winter, and as a wrap with elegant outfits. It is pricey but worth it!
Fleece Top// Dudley Stephens for the win! It's a winter staple for us here in Pittsburgh. It looks great with athletic clothing, while skiing, and with jeans!
Down Robe// This is basically wearing the green blanket. Who doesn't love a down robe?! It's luxurious and so incredibly warm. She has several robes and says this is her #1 fave and most worn in the winter.
Blush Set// My mom says that this brand of makeup, specifically the 'baked' products, works so well on older skin. She loves the colors and how they blend easily and show up on her skin well!
Lipstick// We both have this lipstick, and it's beautiful. It's a true lipstick with a lot of color, but I love how moisturizing it feels- it never dries out my lips like some lipsticks can!
Black Tights// My mom loves to wear tights. I loathe tights, but sometimes you just need them, you know? These are the best brand. Pricey, yes, but they don't rip and are about as comfortable as possible!
