Tomorrow marks the 6th anniversary of Henry's Gotcha Day! For those who don't know, a Gotcha Day is when a rescue gets to go home! I love that it's a thing now because we have no idea when Henry's actual birthday is, so we celebrate this day yearly. We are guessing he is about eight years old.
Eight sounds so old, making me anxious, if I am being frank. We just took him to the vet in October for his yearly check-up, and the vet gave him all good marks and even went as far as to say his teeth look great for a pup his age. I was relieved to hear that, but also, you just never know. I truly hope and pray daily for his long, healthy life. He is quite spry and active! He loves long walks, playing, snuggling up with people or pillows and blankets. He lives for carrots, blueberries, and green apples, and his favorite treat is vanilla ice cream from Brusters.
Henry is one in a million. He is, without question, my soul dog. He is a little guy with a huge personality. He is my very best friend. It must sound truly insane to many, but we understand each other. He is incredibly loving. I thank him daily for bringing me so much joy and happiness! I could write a book about how loved and wonderful he is.
I can't believe it has been 6 years because I feel like he has been in my life forever, but it also feels like it was just yesterday that I met him.
I do a yearly gift guide for pups and their owners or animal lovers. This one is fun, and I know we are just 11 days from Christmas, so a lot of it will be Amazon-based, but I included a few extra unique things that may take a bit longer, so you may want to bookmark them for other occasions.
I can tell you that as someone who likes fancy things, pricier things, and all of that, there is nothing more special than something Henry-related. So cheesy, yes, but those are the kind of gifts that warm my heart most. I know my husband feels the same way, and I have given him many good Henry gifts over the years. My neighbor just came over the other day to give me a gift, a sweatshirt with Henry's ears and his name. It was adorable!!!
Yellow Gold Dog Charm// I think any jewelry with meaning is the most special and I think this cute little dog charm would be adorable added to a bracelet or necklace!
Nose Print Ornament// Isn't this so unique?! I think it's beautiful and so special!
Custom Dog Rocks Glass// I got this for my husband one year and it was such a hit. You submit a photo of your pup or child or cat or whatever and they can etch it into the glass!
Dog Tail Hook// We have these to hold leashes by our back door! They're great quality and so cute.
Custom Dog Golf Ball Marker// My sister showed this to me. I had ball markers made with Henry's actual photo on them- they're plastic and came in a big pack. They are adorable but this one is so much nicer!
Egg Toy// This is one of the toys that Henry is in love with! He plays with it all of the time. I've read that dogs can pick up best on yellow and blue so I do wonder if it is because of the yellow yolk?!
Dental Treats// This is a constant repurchase for me. The ingredients are good and they help his breath to stay fresh.
Dog (photo) Coasters// I got these for my husband one year for Valentine's Day or a little holiday like that and they were such a hit. He keeps them on his nightstnad! You can get the coasters made with any photo!
Dog Wine Aerator// Aren't these fun? My parents have them of all different animals!
Plaid Dog Vest// Henry has several coats and I think this one is adorable! It is reversible. The other side is plain navy blue!
Ring Toy// Henry and Buddy (my parent's dog) are both *obsessed* with these ring toys. It is always the first the they both grab. They usually tear apart the rope portion quickly and then I throw that away. But even after the middle is broken thought, they love to chew on and fetch the rubber rings.
Custom Cuff Links// I got these for my husband and it is unreal that someone handmakes these to look SO much like Henry, it's incredible. A true work of art and so much talent.
Stainless Slow Feeder Bowl// I did a lot of research and a full stainless steel bowl is the healthiest/safest material to have your dog eat and drink from so I ordered this stainless slow feeder bowl. I didn't know this before my research but there are a lot of stainless bowl options out there but some are mixed with other metals. This one is fully stainless steel and so high quality. You can put it in the dishwasher.
Dog DNA Test// We did this and it was so much fun to learn about Henry. They are able to give you some health info, too!
Bene Bone// This is a favorite of Buddy and Henry. When Henry is bored, he goes for this. It does worry me a bit and I don't think these are 100% safe but I think it majorly helps Henry's teeth so I let him have it only when I am around and paying attention.
Tennis Ball Toy// I love this brand of pet toys and accessories because it's so aesthetically pleasing! Henry thinks this toy is fun and it's SO durable. I got him this last Christmas and he usually ruins toys and this one has stayed totally intact.
GPS Pet Tracker// LOVE this pet tracker. It works by GPS so unlike an airtag, it doesn't rely on other with iPhones being around to track. I used it this summer when Henry was off leash and I was overly impressed.
